My GF wanted to watch this show, I guess to watch the 3rd season, because she never saw the ending? But, this show is just awful. Every character and storyline feels exaggerated, every plot-line has the same, exact cheesy-ending with not even a sense of realism. I feel as that if you go for a serious tone, it should have a touch of realism.

The only good part of the show was Sabrina Carpenter, who played Maya. She seems to be the only one with some sensible dialogue and a well-rounded character arc. Riley is awful. The supporting cast just as well.

Then it made me question, was Boy Meets World always like this?

I like BMW but yeah it was kinda cheesy at times. GMW was just terrible tho. If you want a teen/adult show watch Andi Mack

BMW was selfaware cheese (forth wall breaking at times) that also did the teen drama stuff.

Didn't GMW get cancelled? I never found BMW bad (Watched some episodes a few years ago) but GMW was just campy.

Obviously, Gilmore Girls is the better coming of age story.

Ok, so somehow I have seen Sabrina Carpenter before, and when checking out where she was from saw Girl Meets World, but I just looked at her IMBD and it doesn't show any other shows/movies besides something named horns which I didn't see.

I thought she was the girl in Cloak and Dagger, but I checked and that is some other chick.

So I have no clue where I saw her before at this point. It's very weird.

You're thinking of Olivia Holt from Cloak and Dagger. As for Sabrina, I've seen her in a ton of things in a lot of minor roles, most recently, The Hate U Give.

On topic:

Boy Meets World had was beyond cheesy, but it was proper for it's time. It worked back then, but I sure as hell struggle to watch it nowadays. Girl Meets World should have never been made. it tries to capture the essence of Boy Meets World and apply it to a modern day setting, where the cheesiness, overly exaggerated characters, etc just don't mix.

It had some good moments, like Maya's family situation, the girl with Asperger Syndrome and whatnot, but it played it too safe.

Yes it was always corny. I used to love that show, but looking back on it, it's just plain awful. Kind of like all sitcoms that aren't Everybody Loves Raymond, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and The Bob Newhart Show.

I thought it was ok at the start, but then I randomly watched a newer episode quite a few years later, and was appalled.
