I think for me, it would be either 3D, Kart, or Party. Im leaning to toward either 3D more, the Party. But Im not sure...

2D for me. With 3D being the only other ones I enjoyed (and I enjoyed most of them a lot). 2D mario games still play wonderfully (SMB1-2 are a bit janky control wise but still fun and playable) and they were peak nostalgia era for me.

2D sidescrolling Mario is the best.
I also prefer the 2D top-down Zelda games too. I really wish they would make another one for consoles (or at least do an HD remake of A Link Between Worlds). ... Copied to Clipboard!

I love the 3D Mario games and Mario Kart, but the 2D games rank just slightly above them.

My favorite overall game is Yoshi's Island, but the 3D games are more fun collectively for me than the 2D ones. NSMB should have ceased at NSMBW until they came up with something different.

I think you could honestly divide 2D into three groups (Bros./World, Land, New) and 3D into two (64/Sunshine/Galaxy/Odyssey and 3D Land/World). And I guess the RPG ones could be divided but I don't know much about them, only played SMRPG and the first Paper Mario. Actually Paper is like its own thing since some of them aren't even RPGs
