I liked it too, not as much as the first one but it was cute

I was sort of bothered by the commercialism but I also kind of get the charm of having everything take place on the actual internet that we're familiar with, therefore having websites we're familiar with

But it's also kind of weird that SOMETIMES they went with a real website (like eBay) and sometimes they went with something made up? I guess the more character-driven sites (like Knowsmore or Buzzztube) tended to be the made up ones but it still kind of struck me as weird

I wasn't as bothered by the self-referential Disney stuff as I expected to be just because it was a very clever way to have a few gags mashing up some disparate stuff (Disney princesses and C-3PO) and some of the jokes were good ("She's from the other studio" got a good guffaw out of me)

Uh yeah, it was cute! Not amazing but a worthwhile followup to the first film

i agree with all of these takes

it had some real cute moments but couldn't quite match the unique magic of the first movie, which is exactly what always happens for me in sequels lol

for what it's worth, the original movie was the exact same way

there were real games featured (Pacman, Sonic, Qbert, etc.) but all the ones important to the plot (Fix-It Felix, Candy Rush, the shooter one) were made up

Yeah that is true, for some reason THAT didn't strike me as odd though, fictional video game characters hanging out in a world surrounded by real video game characters

but fictional websites surrounded by real websites threw me off a bit for whatever reason

It might just be that I'm grumpy about the commercialism aspect of it whereas Q*Bert appearing in a movie can't really be accused of the movie studios shilling out for Q*Bert

btw I really like that "Sonic the Hedgehog explains wi-fi" was a scene in this movie

Another thing about this movie I noticed, not good or bad but just a thing that I thought was interesting: The first movie really established the notion that they're video game characters, in a movie about video games, where the plot is about video games. The second movie is really just about Ralph and Vanellope as people and largely ignores that they're video game characters, which I thought was really interesting

I wasn't too big a fan tbh. The references and jokes were fun, but I didn't like that the actual plot was pretty bare bones and predictable. It's definitely better than some of the other movies this year, but I just expected a little more out of Disney tbh

My sister dragged me to see this even though I never saw the original, and I thought it was kind of whack. It was kind of cute and I liked the message I guess, but overall it wasn't great and some parts were actually pretty cringey. Plus they did my girl Merida dirty, and that's not cool.

Though I was a fan of the Sonic explaining wi-fi scene as well

Ugh I was dreading this whole movie the possibility of a Toy Story 3-esque "people just don't go to arcades anymore so we're all obsolete" plot and I'm still worried the third movie could be that so I'll take anything else

I really like that this movie takes place in a universe where the arcade can still be operating (even if Sugar Rush is no longer in production) even though it's a world where wi-fi exists

I like living in this fantasy

oh yeah two thoughts I had here

1) It's really cool that they actually utilized Wreck-It Ralph being a known video game character in this universe to boost his meme status - that was a really creative way to like, utilize his strengths to solve the problem, he was able to become popular because he's literally from a popular video game

2) I feel like they missed a really fun marketing opportunity by not releasing all of Ralph's videos on Youtube before the movie was released as a meta-narrative thing

Overall, not nearly as good as the first, but otherwise it's fine.

Jokes were meh overall. I can't recall one that really stuck out for me.

I liked the brief reference to old, dead websites; kinda wish they did just a little more with it.

I also feel like Ralph actually got dumber, at least in the sense that he does at least one thing I feel was incredibly stupid. If you've seen it, you probably know what I mean. That aside, I feel like main characters are pretty consistent from the first film.

I really liked the sneak peek at the end. I feel like I shouldn't have, not sure why. But I'm glad I saw it.
