32 y/o Jesse James Lutgen from Illinois has Died from his Type 1 Diabetes and his mom is warning others on the deadly risks of rationing your medicine, or insulin in his case!!

Janet Lutgen is heartbroken over her son's death because he SKIPPED taking his treatment because he lost his job and insurance and couldnt afford his insulin supplies anymore so he was rationing his medicine to survive!!

She said "I had heard through the grapevine that he wasn't able to afford his supplies because he had lost his job and didn't have any insurance"

She was horrified when she visited his home and found no humalog or test strips as he always took them before he took his meals.

He's been advocating for affordable insulin as her cover photo says "Isulin isn't optional..stand up for affordable insulin"

Jesse was a football fanatic who used to live in Iowa as he was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Chicago Cubs and Green Bay packers fan who also loved disc golf and spending time with cousins.

Janelle misses her son everyday as football season will be hard without seeing him at her home when he visits..

Would you support higher taxes if it means single payer healthcare for everybody?.

We have the NHS over here and I think places like the USA would benefit from something like that. Of course you can't save everyone no matter what but the American healthcare system seems terrible from a outsiders point of view.

You mean a healthcare system revolved around making profit from mass produced pharmaceutical products and has full control to legally price gauge all customers for every service provided is terrible?

We also do it without ludicrous tax. We don't tax the poorest then we charge slightly more for low middle, then less for middle then waaaay more for the rich (who avoid the higher rate by low corporation tax).

Personally i'd rather just see it not be for profit (same with prisons, education etc), but yeah free health care for all is worth taxing for anyway.

The concept that not only don't we have that, but people make tons of money off those systems instead...is just crazy. It should at least be controlled by the government to reduce the expenses to the people as much as possible.

All systems seem terrible from an outsider's POV considering each has its own problems. And, having lived in Canada, I honestly wouldn't want to live in a nation with a "free" healthcare system.

Y;see, healthy people and an abundance of preventative care saves more money than its cost

I know for a fact that you've seen the numbers. The US government spends twice as much per capita on health care than the second-highest country (Canada, which is rife with its own inefficiencies), despite not having a formal health care system to show for it. There's every reason to believe that a socialized health care system would in fact save the US government money, given that every country in the world with one spends less on health care than the US does.

But no, pharmaceutical and other medicine-as-industry lobbyists have fed the country a steady stream of individualist propaganda telling people that they have to work for the right to not randomly die, so the US keeps wasting money and lives. What a shame.

It could lower taxes, but won't because any surplus money saved would end up allocated to other things.

Why? Free doesn't mean less quality so other than that I'm not sure why you would rather pay for something or go without if you can't when it comes to healthcare.

The $700 penalty for obamacare is already gone if that is why you are thinking it would lower taxes.

It could lower taxes because the government would be spending less on health care. Nothing to do with any penalties.
