And not "Iraq War" levels either. I'm talking, an actual war. Whether it's global or not, I am not certain, but I can tell something is boiling across societies and countries. I don't know what it is, but it feels like something is going to come to a head, sooner or later. I don't like the tension in America and certain other countries.

Well, yeah, but I don't think people are expecting another so relatively soon.

Speak for yourself there sport, not all of us drink alcohol to the point of destroying our livers, or gain weight to such a degree that it affects our health later in life.

You're right, we'll skip most of that WWII stuff and head straight to the Enola Gay. In other words

We are ALL fucked

You can kind of tell which the way the wind is blowing in terms of lifespan by looking at your maternal grandmother's side of things. Is she still breathing? How old is she? It's a good indicator of how long you are going to live.

My grandmother is 92 and just passed her driving test for seniors. Enjoy the dirt suckers!.

Muah, first thing I thought.

Seriously though, technology vs human nature, we will either all become immortal or end up destroying most life on this planet in the next few decades I would say.

Don't think there is an inbetween...it's all or nothing.

I lost my faith in humanity years ago. There exist so many stupid and outright evil people who don't give a fuck about our only home and other people in general.

Within around 100 years(maybe more, maybe less) I'm certain this planet will be royally screwed, whether by war, pollution or extinction(our species as well as many other animals).

It probably felt like an "actual war" to the roughly hundred thousand people who died as a result. Just like the Second Congo War probably really did feel like the planet's deadliest conflict since WWII to the 860,000 people (at an absolute minimum) who died by 2008.

Humanity was a mistake and life should have just stuck with dinosaurs IMO. Dinosaurs lasted 135 million years and humans are barely lasting 125 000.
Hell, dinosaurs are technically still going since all birds on earth are actually descendants of the dinosaurs.

As violent as humans may be, we're never actually going to completely wipe out all human life. If there is a nuclear war, it won't be the end of humanity. Some people will survive.

Society has been getting better and better throughout the centuries. Yes, there is still violence, but there will always be violence. There have been countless other improvements though toward the better of society, like equal human rights to everyone, and things like that. People who think the world is getting worse are morons who see the past through rose-tinted nostalgia glasses. The world isn't getting worse at all. It's getting better.

The only things that might possibly end all human life would be something like a giant meteor that hits Earth and makes the atmosphere inhabitable or an alien invasion or stuff like that. The sun will eventually go supernova too and kill Earth, but that won't happen for millions of years. By the time something like this actually happens, we will be colonizing other planets by then. So Earth might die, but we will have spread to other planets.

Gladly. Let me point out some distinct differences between something like World War II and The War on Terror in the Middle East. Things like America invading Iraq and Afghanistan may be controversial, and a lot of people don't agree that we even should have been over there to begin with, but that's not what I'm really focusing on here. When America waged war against Saddam, the only people who really "felt" it, were the soldiers, the Iraqi government, and the denizens of Iraq. And it was also pretty one sided.

Most Americans lived through this war by watching clips of it on television or looking at pictures online. Also, Americans didn't really feel any impact from said war economically or otherwise. We weren't buying bonds, rationing out gasoline and food, and there weren't entire factories filled with civilians working night and day to keep the war effort supplied. I'm not saying all that stuff in the Middle East wasn't a war or was completely pointless or anything like that.

I'm just saying that certain wars differ from others in a myriad of ways. And that whatever war is going to happen within the next 50 year or so will make Americans almost wish it was just another struggle against terrorism somewhere in some sand-blasted hell. I have a feeling that the next war is going to have a bit more impact than that. And it's going to be a terrible one.

So what you meant by an "actual war" was: one in which large numbers of Americans are killed in America, and until then it won't feel "actual" to Americans.
