Well his Guardians of the Galaxy 2 sucked so I don't care that we will never see his Guardians 3. It does suck that it's because of Disney bending their knee to a group of nazis who found a bunch of shitty jokes that they already knew about.

2 wasnt bad at all....just really dark and angsty...which I kinda like, I just wish they added a bit more heart to that story. It wasnt as good as GotG1, but still very good

It doesn't matter who perpetuates it at this point. The fact is, major companies are giving in to dumb bullshit. I wish one of them would have the nuts to just say, "Nah" so we could get over this garbage.

I don't feel as if anything of significance was lost.

Now, I say this as a massive fan of Guardians 1. Believe it or not, it was my first Digital HD Purchase of a movie, ever. I love this movie.

Guardians 2 was a re-hash of the same ol shit.

The Guardians fell flat for me in Infinity War.

I feel as if Guardians was going to be another formulaic marvel movie anyway.

You still may.

Gunn had already written the script for the film, and while Disney pulled him off directing, at no point did they say they were scrapping his script. While the visual style will likely differ somewhat under a different director, the characters and plot would feel more or less the same as long as they use his script.

That being said, they could conceivably pick up a director who hates his script and demands rewrites, but that's not necessarily a given. We might also never see a GotG3 at all, because Disney is stalling on picking up a new director, and they've already shown that they're more than willing to pull major releases out of planning if they feel circumstances have changed too much to justify them.

I wouldnt mind seeing Taiki Waititi direct Gunns script. He directed Thor Ragnarok, so hes worked with Marvel before and he has a very similar style. But I dont know how easy it is to get a director on such short notice.

This delay must be hurting all the other MCU as well because theyre expected in such a specific time table

One movie being delayed doesn't actually mess with the rest of the schedule - they just lift it out of the rotation and produce all the other movies on time and in order. They don't delay the entire chain because one movie goes bad - that's the reason why Inhumans falling out of the plan didn't mess with anything, and why they'll be able to adapt very easily to having the Fox-licensed characters back under their control.

It might be an issue for a movie that was pre-planned to be a significant part of the overarching plot (like Winter Soldier or Civil War), but the Guardians movies were always sort of their own separate thing anyway. Even in the wake of Infinity War, I can only assume they would have gone off and separated again, and not been all that significant to the rest of the setting.

There WAS talk about using Guardians and Captain Marvel to serve as a foundation to build a new "cosmic" shared universe (with stuff like Nova and Silver Surfer or Adam Warlock or Quasar) that exists in the same universe as the shared Avengers filmed but mostly only interacts with itself (similar to how the Defenders exist in the same universe but don't necessarily interact with the Avengers). Guardians being delayed might interfere with those plans, but they don't seem to have been all that advanced beyond the brainstorming stage anyway.

Supposedly with Guardians they're more than willing to leave the movie delayed until a major director comes along and agrees to work on it, and they're not in a rush to grab just anyone to do it. So it could wind up delayed for years (or eventually get outright cancelled) if they don't find a director they like.
