now combine hammers over and over at a bench to get a x100 one and break everything in one hit

I don't have a workbench yet, and I believe I read you need 1 or 2 wrenches to get them..so it'll be awhile. Still I have Diertown to explore so i might get them there.

I'm not going to invest anymore skill points though, I have the pete one (boosts blunt damage) at level 2...which should be enough. The only other thing i'll probably boost is my weapon crafting skill. Right now I can just make 100 tools/weapons, on the multiplayer I could make 150 (think that wasn't till level 10). Higher the stamina on the weapon, more damage it does. Combined with the pete perk and higher base blunt skill i was taking out most zombies with 2 head shots with a wooden club on the multiplayer game.

Hehe thanks!! Yeah it's fun to relate what happens. I love open world games like this. Playing with others is a blast, but...there is something about taking on the world by yourself as well. Not as social, but...really challenging:)

A year ago or so, I played 7 days to die with my friends. It was fun, but they had played before and I was brand new, kinda just figuring out things as I went. We played it again the other night (some stuff had changed), but today......I decided to play by myself and get to know the game. I thought, why not post my experiences here?!!

My first attempt went pretty well, but I was waaaaay south on the map and I felt like I traveled for like 2 hours getting to anything green. I had not actually gone to the wiki yet and looked at a map, so I guess I headed east through tons of burnt out lands before going south through some desert, east again and finally north to find trees. 2 hours later I finally get to some trees and there is a large bear in front of the house I chose.

I got up on a rock (pretty high one) and proceeded to shoot the bear. This turned out to be a VERY bad idea as the bear ate me. I ran out, got my corpse and....you guessed it...the bear ate me again.

Ok, lesson learned, don't attack bears. At this point my wellness was down to only 80 which would take me way longer then 2 hours to get back, so I decided to just restart. Before doing so......I cheated and looked at a map. Now I knew that the southern side is the hardest and the northern side has lots of green.

This time I started in the desert, gathered tons of Yucca fruit and aloe along the way as I headed north. Still had to run through burnt lands etc, but I got to green WAY faster (like 30 minutes). I plopped down a bed, and started clearing out homes around the area....in the process......I got infected!! Argh. I found no honey or anti-biotics in the area. I now know a bit more and could have gone to a town nearby and probably found some, but I had no clue. I ran through a few towns all over the place looking for a pharmacy (like 3 of them) and saw NO PHARMACIES at all!! WTH I sad....so I went back to the map (sigh it's not cheating really, I mean...there would be freaking maps of the area in the towns right?)....and looked up pharmacies. Well...it turns out people in this area hate them, as there are only 2 on the whole freaking map. By now I was at stage 2 of the infection and at stage 3 you die.....meaning you lose a ton of wellness AND you also lose wellness periotically from stage 2. Wellness loss sucks, but I booked it WAY south along a path I had already explored (I literally saw the pop and pills store but didn't know what it was from the intersection) and got there before stage 3 or loosing more then 1 point of wellness (I had meanwhile gained 8 points by eating good food and popping vitamins I found!!).

The store, of course, was full of zombies. I actually got jumped by 4 when trying to enter (breaking the glass woke them up..they were all outside around the corner). There was another 8 or so zombies in the store itself (and it's close quarters), but I wiped them all out.

I then looted the whole store, and it wasn't till just at the end that I found......2 anti-biotics!! (cures infection!!). Hurrah, I now was at 108 wellness with no infection and TONS of med kits/healing bandages etc.

I turned around and headed back to the green, fighting zombies along the way, got jumped a few times etc, but i have so much healing now, I feel like a god. Oh yeah, on the way they did an air drop for me (Set it to every day muahaha), and guess what was in it...6 freaking anti-biotics. At least I'll be safe from future zombie bites for awhile.

I am now safe back at a farm (tons of corn there) and there is a town named Diersville nearby that I am going to explore. My weapon making and blunt skills are better as well, so zombies go down alot faster which is really nice. I feel like I am at a pretty safe place, and have a good start to the game. I have awhile till the first blood moon (still mid day 2 out of 7), and have 2 guns already (just not much ammo). Next up Imma gonna make me a bow and a buncha arrows (have tons of feathers), and start hunting up some grub!!!

That game is better than it has a right to be, I just wish the console version wasn't fucked and received updates, hasn't had one in like a year and the Telltale issue has also screwed things up as they were publishing for console.

I do have to wonder about the game a bit and the reason you have NO clue where anything is when you start. Do you have amnesia? Where you dropped out of a plane randomly? Why don't you know where you are, where the local towns are etc.

Perhaps they will change things in the future. I know they intend on putting more quests in the game. Maybe making a general map that you can find, that shows an over view of the area will eventually be added. It kinda makes sense that some things (like burnt out areas) would not be on the map, but you could at least tell where greenish areas and desert along with water sources are.

Also.....I get that bears and boars are probably pretty dangerous if you mess with em, but they are WAY more deadly then zombies (so are freaking buzzards). I think they are zombie buzzards actually (maybe from eating zombies?) as they can attack you out of nowhere, and I think that is how I got infected (from the buzzard). They are crazy hard to kill without getting hit. Snakes are also insane, faster then day zombies and almost impossible to see, while being really hard to hit.

Seems silly to have the animals be more dangerous then the zombies!!!

Ahh, didn't know that. yeah they are about to release a big update to A17...which will change a ton of things. Wellness is going away, and characters will now have stats (like strength etc), also they are redoing the skill system and I believe adding more quests for leveling.

I'm playing now before it changes cause it's already a fun game lol....might as well play it with this fun system before they change it to whatever (hopefuly more fun) system they put in.

It is quite challenging which is half the fun, but I hear later on you can get tons of guns and ammo etc and it becomes alot easier. I like the start where you have to really think to survive, use traps etc. My friend set it to zombies running all the time which really helped us get used to fighting them at night (since they moved just as fast during the day).

I have too many games I need to play in the next 2 weeks before fallout 76....but I'm playing this instead lol.

I played some more. Man this game is hard! I have somehow avoided dying though it was close a few times.

So I went to Diersville. Seems like a nice peaceful place. It isn't.

EVERY house, every single one, is fully loaded with a nice supply of hungry zombies. Even when you think you have cleaned it all out, actually especially then, there will be a zombie that pops up from somewhere behind you. So many times I was surrounded. I had a ton of bandages and first aid kits on me and used em all but i cleared about 12 homes.

I didn't get that much for all that work either, which is really sad. I got infected once, but had anti-biotics so no problem. I did get 2 wrenches though, which I know is required for workbenches...which help you craft better stuff. Not exactly sure how to use that yet, but I will look into it tomorrow.

I leveled up a few more times, but the really strange and annoying thing is my wellness keeps dropping when I get hit. I guess it's part of the game that when you take damage at over 100 wellness (maybe under 100 as well) you lose some. I went from 112 wellness to 109 on my trip (even while eating stuff and drinking stuff that should boost it.

That is quite frustrating. Perhaps I should be working on getting guns and ammo before searching homes like this. I do have a few pistols and an ak-47, but I have very little ammo so I'm saving it for a blood moon attack. I'm still on day 2 I think, maybe early day 3, so I have some time left.

I will probably have to use the wiki to figure out how to craft more stuff, or what i need to do next. So far i've just been exploring and looting. I think being able to make a workbench will give me some more options as well.

I have unlimited food and water at this point, so that is something at least. I still have quite a few healing items as well, but I will need to do a trip to the desert eventually to get more bandage supplies. I did get a recipie for first aid kits as well though, so I can make them (used 4 or 5 on that trip, and had like 12...so not quite half (maybe 1/3).

When I played in the past as part of a team, we focused entirely on building up a base to stand against the zombies on blood moons (every 7th day). I made some out door traps though last time we played and ran the zombies around into them, and that worked so well, that I'm not gonna waste time (at least not yet) building walls, setting traps etc for the zombies around the house.

I am a bit sad though, my plan was to work my way up to 200 wellness and then get the perks that boost the max to 250. I figure if I got my health/stamina up that high I would be almost unbeatable (unless cornered etc). Doesn't look like that is possible unless I switch to range weapons primarily and totally avoid getting cornered or surprised (basically avoid towns all together lol).

Anyway, that is it for tonight. I think I killed about 100 zombies total, and since each zombie can take quite awhile to kill....that was alot of effort (all by wooden clubs so far lol).

It feels like one of those games that is mostly meh, but if you can get a group of friends together and play with open communication it becomes way more fun than it would otherwise be.

You've now spent more time thinking about that aspect than the devs ever did.

Personally, I kind of like the idea that you've been traveling on foot because wherever you use to be was overrun, so you just sort of ran away without paying attention to anything around you. Where you start the game is where you finally stopped, caught your breath, and started making coherent plans for survival.

The best is when dogs attack the car you're standing on, and it explodes and kills you.

Super-strong zombie-infected dogs or not, I'm pretty sure that shouldn't be a thing by any stretch of the imagination.

I think that isn't a thing anymore? I feel like I remember someone saying they patched crafting exploits for leveling up stuff to massive levels by constantly crafting and breaking, but I could be wrong.

Have not died to a car yet hehe...but they sure do through alot of things at you. The bear stuff is actually really funny in hindsight, although at the time it was not very funny at all.

There are also radiation areas where by the time you take damage, your so far in you die before you can get out lol. I was playing with my friends the other day, just running over to pick up and item or something and bam I got hit, I look around to see what hit me, nothing is there (we are all on microphones) and they are like "your in radiation!" So I turn to run out (literally like 2 seconds) and bam get hit again and die.

That is some serious radiation damage!!

It'll probably all be smoothed out a bit by release, but even in it's current state it's quite fun. Can't wait for A17 though, as they will be adding stats, redoing the skill system and ditching wellness. The base game itself is a blast, but if they add more/better leveling/character customization i'll be in heaven.

If I remember correctly, I think those are the parts where you're at the edge of the map, so it's basically their way of saying "Turn back or we're going to kill you."

Yeah, I'm still not sure about that tbh, maybe we were at the edge of the map at the time. I have not found any radiation areas while playing solo at all, even though i went through tons of burning areas. Whatever it was, I died real fast lol.

Argh, well I died, I got greedy in a hospital.

That is where Is pent most of my playtime tonight, but at least this time I didn't quit out when I died and loose everything like I have previously. I ran back and killed the monsters that killed me and got all my stuff back. I ended up with only 101 wellness though, but it really doesn't seem to want to go up past 110 much anyway.

Meanwhile I spent the day searching more houses in diersville, until a few hours in....I spotted a pop and pills sign. There was no store, but there was......a HUGE hospital.

When I searched for pop and pills nobody mentioned this sadly or I could have saved myself a very long run through the map yesterday!!

I got tons of supplies in there. In a funny irony (iron doors) you can cut through most of the wooden walls WAY eaiser then the iron doors lol...which is how i got to most of the pill cabinets. Got some good healing supplies and a ton more vitamins (which don't seem to do much) and anti-biotics (got infected once but it's really not a worry anymore).

Killed tons of zombies and leveled up a few times (still havn't spent the skill points since I was in dangerous areas the whole time).

Not sure why but the zombies in the hospital are moving fast, even though it's daytime. May be a bug, but it sure is annoying. That is how I died, a helmet wearing zombie and 3 other zombies all woke up at once and surrounded me and I couldn't get away sigh.

I also ran and got another dropped supply box (have it set to drop one daily hehe). I have like 4 pistols and 5 or so wrenches now, so I can probably make a workstation and see if I can make ammo for my pistols or something. Only plan on using guns for hoards or multiple fast zombies etc.....I also got a schematic for a hunting knife which will be a nice upgrade from my shiv for skinning animals in the future (not sure if I have the ingrediants to make it yet though).

Taking a break early tonight since I died...took all my willpower not to just log out, and then I would not have played him anymore. Think my new rule is I will only erase a character IF I drop under 100 wellness. So I'm in real danger right now.

I like to play hardcore (death is real yo!), but this game is just a bit too dangerous and there are lots of things that can just straight up kill you, with no chance of survival. Gotta make some allowances or I'll just give up all together.

I think I will try and figure out how to make iron etc since I have schematics for iron armor in most slots now...which will probably help me not die as easy.

Think I'm on day....4? now...so still got 3 days before the first blood moon. Feeling like i'm gonna be pretty powerful by the time I hit the first one compared to the multi-player games in the past.

God I hate dying in games.

Didn't play too much today, may play a bit more later.

Did a few new things though. First I used a treasure map, had to look up how those work (seriously they need to add more info in the game). I kinda figured I had to dig, but without reading the info I woulda been digging forever.

I also saw....and shot (twice) a deer!! I harvested 4 meats of said deer with my bone shiv lol. Yummy, yummy bacon and eggs (how you get bacon from a deer I don't know...but whatever). Don't like eggs in real, but yummy in 7 days.

Explored some more homes and gained like 2 more levels (I'm level 15!!!!). Didn't play long enough for the daily cargo drop, but have like 2 days before the blood moon now.

Took a perk that boosts how much welness I get from food (and reduces how fast I get hungry) so hopefully I'll get a bit higher (only at like 103 right now...if I die....it's permanent based on my rules of course).

Ran all over the map to get to the treasure spot....and all I got for it was nuggest (gold/silver) and raw diamonds. I did also get a bunch of casino tokens (money in 7 days)...so that is something if i hit a store. Not sure if i would spend that much time again though.

There are some new zombies showing up, which considering we made it much later in the gmae (like day 21) in multiplayer, I'm thinking it's based off your level, more then your time in game.

Anyway that was pretty much it today, nothing really special. Still have not worked on upgrading the house I am at, or making any kind of real base. i'll probably do that during the day of the blood moon hehe. Who knows maybe I'll be able to make iron/steel whatever by then and make better defenses!!
