pretty sure cb9 was her debut. i just reject out of hand this idea of boosts from hype. can't make a logical connection between "a game is being released" and "damn you know i actually did like that character after all"

snake's announcement for smash was lightning in a bottle. unparalleled moment on this board, unparalleled impact on the contest. it was a freak incident that won't be repeated, and you seem to be on board with that idea. so i'd rather look at every other instance we've had instead.

I think the only thing thats sure about this match is that KOS-MOS goes to Round 3. Both of these characters are going to be trash.

I don't think we'll see a boost like that again, but I don't disagree with the idea of a character boosting from hype just in general. If you give people a reason to be excited about something, that will help you be more popular because people are thinking about you and you've brought those fond memories of them to the forefront of your mind.

It's also why Ezio and Gordon hit rock bottom this year because what possible reason do you have to be excited about them anymore? But if HL3 got announced, Gordon would jump way back up, even before it came out.
