Respect goes two ways, and pointing out literal facts is never 'going too far'. Anyone denying that leftist mobs both exist and are widely encouraged by the media is either in denial or too partisan to be worth debating. That's the difference between us and them. We don't defend this crap when conservatives do it.

We literally just had two democrat party leaders tell people 'civility is not the answer' and 'when they go low, we kick them'. Even on censored-beyond-belief youtube, democrat mobs outnumber filth like Proud Boys 10 to 1 or more. Have people already forgotten all the mob mentality beatings that took place in early 2017 and Symone Sanders going on CNN to openly defend it? "Oh my god, poor white, just stop" is a word for word quote that CNN aired after hundreds of beatings were posted on youtube and worldstar. This happened. People allergic to facts can deny it all they want, but facts are not debatable. Democrats have become the party of mob rule, and the media openly encourages and defends it. Period.

Here's a fantastic example, posted on RCP: https://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/06/25/maxine_waters_god_is_on_our_side.html

Are...are y'all actually being serious about the left being more violent than the right?

LOL.

Hey, remember when a republican congressman (Gianforte) body slammed a reporter?

Remember how this was right before an election, and republican voters liked it, and voted for him anyway?

Remember how conservatives on B8 were gloating about him getting elected?

Remember how Trump was celebrating his bodyslam THIS WEEK, and mimed it at a rally?
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-45913921

Like...yeah, sure, quote Maxine Waters saying something dumb again, by all means, I'd rather she not say the stupid stuff she says, but as far as I know she hasn't actually gotten violent herself (unlike Gianforte), she just words stuff in awful ways. And you don't have Democratic presidents saying "Maxine Waters? Yeah, listen to what she has to say." And I'm quite certain if she had body slammed someone, there would not be Democratic presidents celebrating her body slam.

I don't really see why people expect Biden to go places in the primary. He always underperformed in primaries in the past.

Hey, hey, remember Al Gore's running mate in 2000? You don't? Well, it was Joe Lieberman.

Remember what happened to him when he was in the primary in 2004? Initial frontrunner cause of all the name recognition but became irrelevant super fast. I didn't even remember him running in 2004 until someone pointed out to me that he ran.

I pretty much expect the same trajectory for Joe Biden. Lots of name recognition, but an old guy who's been repeatedly caught on camera getting grabby with women, and probably more right wing than most of the field if the predictions about Gilibrand/Harris/Sanders/Warren are correct? He's just not going to be the top choice for very many primary voters.

Honestly how the Dems do in the House will determine how they run in 2020 because they're running a lot of women and progressives.

If they win the House by a decent margin, it's unlikely they need to nominate a "blue dog" Democrat. And keep in mind Democrats are absolutely swamping the GOP in terms of fundraising.

ah i see you missed our recent extended discussion on gabbard

The major red flag for me is her apologism for Assad and throwing skepticism on his responsibility for chemical attacks.

She's also had a bad history on a number of social progressive causes. Honestly, to me, she's one of the more conservative democrats (in a super blue seat) that is trying to take advantage of jumping on the Sanders bandwagon/anti-establishment sentiment. Looking solely at Hawaii Democratic politicians I'd say Hirono is someone I've liked.

But if you mean 2020 candidates... limiting it to the likely candidates, I was tossing this in my mind earlier in the day and I don't have any solid favorites I think. Think my top tier would consist of Warren, Harris, and Gillibrand. Booker is on the next tier down. And Sanders and Biden below that tier. I can try to place other people on this list if you give me some names.

I did indeed and admittedly don't know much about her outside of a couple of interviews I've seen her do which seemed appealing enough. So yeah I was just curious what the red flags were (I suppose I could've googled, but I am pretty lazy).

(My personal favorite is Duckworth just for the contrast she has to Trump, but she doesn't seem interested in running.)

Shes openly said Assad is bad, but shes a combat veteran against war and believes deposing him militarily will create a power vacuum like it did in Iraq and Libya for even worse people to take over.

I dont expect a nuanced response, it seems like people who supported Hillary with some (or no) reservations are unable to look past like two things they THINK they disagree with her on but cant elucidate why.

Oh yeah Suprak, as for this part,15 years ago she had positions youd call Conservative today, but she publicly evolved on those positions sooner than both Obama and Hillary, and has voted in support of those positions, so when people on the Left bring this up I just throw my hands in the air because how can you argue with that?

I recall reading up on her foriegn policy a couple years back and not liking it, mostly w.r.t Syria (though if her reasoning there was "let's not have another Iraq" which I don't recall ever hearing anything about, that's actually fine in my book because I agree with that reasoning), and what I was understanding as an eagerness to continue pushing the whole "War on Terror" thing, which in my mind has been about as successful and useful as the "War on Drugs" thing.

Also literal Steve Bannon praised her on that front which sort of validated it in my mind <_<

So...someone suggested we listen to the Tulsi Gabbard interview with Joe Roegan, so....I watched it.

Honestly? They spent most of the time discussing Bernie Sanders policies, where she seemed basically agreed with Bernie on basically everything (although she had a slightly different focus when it came to education). Or alternatively Hawaii policies as that's her home state and she's focused on it.

Biggest red flag to me is that when they got onto the subject of internet media telling the story that corporate media does not, her one example was fucking Jimmy Dore. I mean, Jimmy Dore's politics proooobably aren't that far from mine on the left-right spectrum, but he comes across as a total asshole to me.

Anyway I'd be OKish with her as a presidential candidate based purely on that interview (haven't looked into the Assad stuff) but like...in practical terms I feel like if Bernie is running she's going to have trouble getting out from his shadow. And I don't particularly see a reason Bernie wouldn't run unless he suddenly develops health problems. He's basically the same age as Biden, and everyone is assuming Biden will run.
