Shut up, Eclair. You are beyond mentally incapable of having any healthy relationships, platonic or otherwise.

Basically, my only selling skill is my Excel proficiency, I have had only one job in my life, and my resume is so empty, I have had to fill it with my "skills" and volunteer work.

Is this normal for someone who has just graduated college? I must have these answers.

Mostly Java and C#, and I know Visual Basic.NET, SQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (but I really need to spend far more time with that last time).

The problem with me isn't knowing them. The problem with me is that there are far better coders than me out there.

If you're trying for a standard office job, you can try embellishing your other skills.

Examples could be:

Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills.
Team player, accepts and learns from constructive feedback, and flexible.
Moves and lifts heavy objects with ease, without special accommodation.
Creates and maintains databases and spreadsheets with ease.
Knowledgeable of basic business practices and office workplace ethics.

If you have experience with computers, network troubleshooting, computer builds, etc, use these too.

But I still haven't figured out what career I wish to pursue with it. At first, I wanted to be an actuary, but now I'm not so sure anymore.

It's not that abnormal. Certainly how long you held that one job would come into play. You really should have tried to find some paid internships or something, but that's a bit too late.

Dude, what the fuck are you doing? Did you even walk down to your carer center once during your years at college? Right now you should be taking as much help as you can get before you graduate.

I suppose I should schedule an appointment with my career center to help me decide what to do, then.

If you want help putting together your resume I wouldn't mind, I'm quite good at it. Seriously if you have worked any job, volunteered at all, gone to school etc, you can make it look good on paper, and it just has to be good enough to get you an interview.

Best thing to do honestly though is volunteer in that field for now, and that will get you in contact with people who might employe, you. Find a job you really want and tell them your willing to work for free while being trained buy you really want to work for their company (research it first and have good reasons why).

I got a job teaching before I even started working on my teaching credentials that way once....as it has been said often, it's who you know, but......you can put yourself in positions to get to know the people that will help you land the job you want.

Well, first step is to find a job you actually wouldn't hate to do, hopefully that uses whatever degree you just got as well (though that isn't mandatory, find something you actually want to do).

As far as paying bills, you can work at night at a job while you volunteer in the field you actually want to do, until you can actually start getting paid for it.

As an example when I was 19 I worked graveyward at Carl's Jnr (actually really liked the job) while going to a vocational school (Valecetos CET) to get my electronic techs degree for 9 months. That wasn't volunteering but it's the same concept (only you generally don't volunteer full time lol).

First step though is figuring out what you want to do, that is more important then a good resume as you can flavor your resume towards whatever job/field you are applying for....so you kinda need that info first.

Try not to worry if you have not figured it out yet. People change, plans change, circumstances change.

I spent 5 years prepping for military service (4 years JROTC and 1 year ROTC), then was denied due to medical stuff.

Had to change course on a dime and decided to pursue law. Got my prelaw degree, then the job market for that completely fell through around here (offices wanting 8+ years of experience, $9 an hour pay for paralegal work).

Now I am attempting to get into teaching here. Got all my tests taken care of, and about to start shooting out applications, as soon as I get back from visiting my ailing grandfather. Working for $13 an hour at a local grocery to pay bills in the meantime.
