I grew up in Philly area when Cunningham and Reggie White were Eagles, so I'm a fan of the birds.

I eventually moved to Pittsburgh as a teen. Was never into hockey before but has since become my passion. Became a huge Pens fan while there. I moved here during the lockout year, then Sid was drafted, so it was a perfect time. Start of a new era for the Pens

I'm all over the place when it comes to this.

I became a fan of the Lakers because I grew up in SoCal.
I became a fan of the Yankees because of Jeter and Andy Pettitte.
I became a fan of the Saints because I was collecting sports jerseys at the time and I really liked their colors.
I became a fan of the South Korea Soccer team because I was born there.

Bulls, White Sox, Bears, Blackhawks

Hard not to get sucked into the Bulls when you have MJ. Only one that I switched allegiances was I was brought up a Cubs fan, but became a White Sox fan around 10 years old. My family never really watched them, but I discovered them on TV on my own. Became a big fan of Frank Thomas, Robin Ventura & Jack McDowell. And in Chicago, you gotta pick one team, so I switched.

"There is no such thing as a child who has a favorite sports team. Only a child with a dad who has a favorite sports team."

This quote has stayed with me for life.

Because I never really had a dad. Just an abusive exstepfather. He loved sports. And because I hated him, I hated sports by association.

I hated the way he would chainsmoke and get drunk in the living room for hours on end, while yelling at the TV because his team was either winning or losing. No matter what they were doing, he would yell at the TV. It made me feel unwelcome in my own home, and I often had to escape because the environment was so toxic. So my brother and I spent a lot of of time outside.

And then his football game would finish....and he'd roll into a Nascar race that would last 4 fucking hours.

The man was human trash.

My mother was an idiot for tolerating him as long as she did.

Depends on the sport.

I grew up near Seattle, so I like the Seahawks and used to like the super sonics. The Sonic's moved and become the thunder, so I pretty much just rooted for players instead of teams, until Steph curry joined the league and I became a warriors fan

The All Blacks (New Zealand rugby team). Rugby plays a significant part in the culture over here. A common dream growing up as a boy in New Zealand is to play for this incredibly successful team, the best rugby team in the world, possibly even the most successful international team of all time in any sport (I'm not exaggerating, they have a 77% winrate over a hundred year span).

The Black Caps (New Zealand cricket team). I enjoy watching cricket, a sport I admit I found boring to watch as a kid until understanding exactly how the game works. There is great complexity to cricket and a focus on statistics which makes it the perfect game for 'sports nerds' to try and analyse. That's probably what most intrigues me about it.

None. Closest was maybe the Bulls back when Jordan was on the team. Never been a big sports fan, though. Closest I get to liking a "sport" is probably pro wrestling, although that's not really a sport and I would start to get bored during a lot of the matches.

I don't really buy it considering that a lot of kids have a different favorite team. Plus it's often less the fact that it's their dad's team and more that it's the local team.

I became a Seahawks fan not too long ago because of Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson. I enjoy watching them play every time theyre on in spite of the fact I live on the other side of the country from them. Plus, their colors and logo are cool.

Plus, my local team is the Buffalo Bills, so.....yeah.

Actually, they usually end their seasons with more wins than losses, even if the team has been a shadow of its former self lately. I believe they won more than lost last year too, even if they didnt make the playoffs.

Baseball - Padres.

I lived in San Diego a couple of years (Navy brat here) and lived not too far from their old stadium, Jack Murphy Stadium (now Qualcomm Stadium). I watched them play a few games there, but I didn't become a full-blown fan until 1984 when they won their first division and first pennant. I haven't paid much attention since Tony Gwynn retired (and yes, I know he's dead - oral cancer claimed him in 2014).

Football - Jacksonville Jaguars.

I pulled for them ever since that fateful day the NFL awarded an expansion franchise to my hometown.

Looks like they have won 10 games more than they lost over all their seasons. I'll still say they lose more than they win. Just cause it gets everyone's pads in a twist.
