I've been gradually introducing my kid to a lot of the key/best movies that I saw as a kid because there were way too many references that people just don't get these days and a whole generation of movies and books are starting to get left behind. That said, woke-at least you can have relatively normal conversations with people then, until it veers off into race issues. They still seem to be on the left but at the same time are willing to have a discussion with the people they disagree with. They would be more center-left or moderate. Additionally I suppose the perspective of what constitutes left and right could change from country to country. The individual may be on the left for the political climate in their country while an observer may equate that with the right for political climate of their country.
