Doesn't look too bad, but I am not a big Captain Marvel fan (not really a fan of most super heroes, but especially Superman clones). Probably won't watch it unless I am super bored.

Plus I kind of wish they would tie in the Netfix universe because Carol Danvers in the Jessica Jones comics was a LOT more interesting then she was in the Avengers. Not sure why they decided to replace her with Hellcat (Trish Walker)

I feel like the trailer doesn't really sell who or what Captain Marvel is, and as I don't really know (and I'm sure most others don't as well) it's not a good sign.

It reminds me of trailers for a dozen other movies, like that Power Rangers film from a year or two ago. It needs more of a distinct theme.

Kinda surprise to see a Skrull in that trailer. The only time I recall them being around was during the Secret Invasion arc. I guess that'll explain her punching that old lady if the Skrull are involved.

EDIT: Interesting, I guess the Secret Invasion might be a thing after the Infinity Gauntlet arc.

Yeah, that does nothing to show her as the powerhouse she is. Also, are they going to explain why they haven't recruited potentially the strongest asset they have for New York and... well literally anything the Avengers had to do seeing as it's clearly set in the past?

she probably went off to deep space and hasn't returned to earth in years. and told them only to call her in a serious situation. they managed to find earth heroes for the other movies so SHIELD never called her.

I mean an entire army trying to destroy the planet while your superteam is "falling apart" seems like a suitable reason.
It's like what they did with Amazo in JLU. The character is too much and they literally had to make up a HORRIBLE excuse to get rid of them.

well it will explain the backstory of a major figure showing up in Avengers 4. so if you skip this one, when you watch Avengers 4, there will be some confusion. this is kinda like the new first Iron Man movie. Captain Marvel i think is planned to take over as the main character of the avengers, post Avengers 4 as old cast members leave one by one

I think this is my issue. Where do they go from Thanos with the IG? If they make him beatable by getting punched there really aren't many more threats.

yea they can still do Doctor Doom and have him become a god. that is higher than Thanos. but I don't know if that would be a good idea until maybe they want to end the series. I could see that being the big finale years from now. but they potentially are trying to keep it alive forever if they can. I think they want to go as far as they can while still making money. so there probably is no true ending planned. not til they start seeing dips in sales

Dr Doom is like baby Thanos. They'd have to go cosmic. More Cosmic than they already are.

I mean in that story they did a few years back where he became literal God. the multiverse collapsed on itself and everyone lived in this weird world that Doctor Doom ruled over as a god king

Doom has become a legit god multiple times though

He does in both Secret Wars when he steals the power of The Beyonder(s) and a similar thing happens in Doomwar when he basically siphons power from all the Wakandan vibranium

Plus he is one of the most menacing comic book characters ever designed. George Lucas has said in the past that he was the main inspiration for the design of Darth Vader

Decent trailer but, as someone who knows little to nothing about Captain Marvel, I still know little to nothing about Captain Marvel. This trailer did little to clear that up.

Oh well, its just the first trailer and Ill probably see it anyway because Im a sucker for these MCU movies.

the final trailer will probably explain more. these first ones usually just go for style and don't explain the plot as much as the final trailer does. but the final trailer usually comes out 1 month from release so that's not til February

I knew next to nothing about Guardians of the Galaxy when I saw that and it was one of the best MCU movies

Why does there have to be escalation at all? They don't need a bigger threat. They just need a good threat. Smaller scale threats can be good. Galactus could be a good smaller scale threat. Maybe Silver Surfer appears early in phase 4 to announce the arrival of Galactus, but he doesn't actually arrive until the end of phase 6.

Dr Doom is a sneaky plotter who collects a power/artifact and becomes super powerful.
It's literally the same thing as Thanos.
Galactus is a smaller threat than Thanos with the IG, but in the short term might actually be a better threat.

Disney buys Warner Brothers, builds a good DC cinematic universe, then makes an Avengers vs Justice League movie, then has everyone vs the Anti-Monitor with the Infinity Gauntlet.
