I never said it wasnt. I said you weren't "running" a restaurant. You're helping to run a kitchen. Even if you're a lead cook, you're not the only one that runs the kitchen. It takes everyone involved doing their job. As I said, I worked in multiple restaurants in the past. I'm simply pointing out that you dont run a restaurant. Dance around that all you want but it doesn't change that fact. Running a kitchen takes work but isnt exactly rocket science like adjl seems to believe. Most of it comes down to not being lazy. Date stuff properly, FIFO, store stuff at proper temps, dont store certain things above others, dont have a lazy close in case inspectors come early yada yada

I know a feminist who wrote a dissertation on the disparity of wages for kitchen workers.

All it would take is a Women's Rights group to travel to India and politely educate them in the very normal, healthy, and perfectly natural phenomenon of female menstruation.....and lives could be saved.

The people here don't care about women in actual danger, and will never start speaking out against the policies of honor killings, stonings, lashings, FGM, and other horrific abuses of women. They will tilt at windmills, fighting the oppression of being asked to perform equal work.

That's just what's needed to make sure things don't go bad, which is important, but hardly all of the planning that goes into having a kitchen run smoothly.

I get along with feminists because they're normal and nice people. I've witnessed patriarchal BS in the workplace (kitchens especially) for over 10 years. Sure, I've witnessed patterns of abuse perpetrated by women too, but it's been way more rampantly done by men.

Incredibly perverted commentary from head chefs, explicit commenting on of the bodies of underage girls specifically. Generally poor management and communication from owner/manager of a pizza restaurant, all while hiring young 'hot' women, and trying to touch/kiss them after plying them with staff parties/alcohol. His life's gone really downhill as of lately though, so....

I dunno, I've worked for at least one handful of male managers in retail and the restaurant business who have been poor workers, poor communicators, emotional (outbursts of anger), inappropriate (trying to talk about the attractiveness of underage coworkers) and those who shovel their management responsibilities onto others (ordering, managing schedules, organization). I've had one such individual fired (for persisting in outbursts of anger, abusive language, boning someone in an office when supposed to be working), and straightened one such individual out personally (a personal letter to a manager in a restaurant with a threat to quit if he didn't uphold more of his responsibilities).

I've worked for lots of great women, save for a couple. I've worked with a large amount of garbage men. Well, I wish I'd worked as a garbageman for a while XD

I let it slide less and less as I got older. In my early 20's I was often fearful of losing the job that supported my rent/schooling, as I am solely responsible for my income. When I was working my first few jobs, I wanted to stick around for a while and have a 'positive' reference on my resume, in order to continue securing myself work. Ew, hooray!
