Mead 09/16/18 11:10:20 PM #2:	There are worse games for sure, but it has some very glaring issues The characters are two dimensional and most honestly arent likeable(Rinoa is SO VAPID), the narrative is bananas even in JRPG terms and the pacing is all over the place The battle system is incredibly exploitable and the game actually encourages you to avoid battles and not become stronger. You can easily break the game by just playing cards to gather spells The game has its merits too though. Despite the aging graphics the artistic design is gorgeous, the soundtrack is one of the best in the series, and the FMV sequences still hold up --- If they drag you through the mud, it doesnt change whats in your blood <cite>Mead posted [p:908899314] in Is Final F... argonautweakend 09/16/18 11:13:29 PM #3:	I enjoy it for several reasons, but there is a lot to hate as well. I like the setting its in, and the plot for the most part is interesting, though it could have been executed better. I love the GF system in the fact that your summon creatures play a real role in the team other than just one summon attack. I am also a fan of the card game, though the rules do change throughout the game and can be whack. Not only can you get cool items from it, its just cool to get summon monster cards or character cards. The battle system is kinda whack. you can fuck this game up six ways from sunday if you want. I always level to 100 when I play just because, but since enemies level with you, gaining levels is nearly pointless, and you can boost your stats in several different ways. The characters don't get much meaningful development until the end, and the final boss doesnt come out of nowhere but there is no real intense buildup to their fight like a sephiroth. you wanted to kick his ass, but in FF8 you dont really care about the final boss. Overall I like this game, though I can plainly see why people hate it. I just really like the world its set in and its wacky battle mechanics are neat, imo. The biggest flaw is probably in the leveling / junctioning system, so that's why people hate it so much, but that part is playable. It also has some of the best original music in any game ever, some amazing characters and a great story. I quite liked VIII and didn't really enjoy IX but it's all cyclical-everyone was very anti XII but until Zodiac Age came out, a lot of people simply hadn't played it and just heard it was crap but it's always been one of my favourites since day one (and I didn't think X was as good as everyone seems to say either). Like every game in the series, it will appeal to different people, has its flaws and has a few things they really got right. If you don't like it, just wait for the next one, that's the whole idea. I'll admit not putting it in this compilation on switch is weird though, have they mentioned if it was a technical issue or just lazy? --- Mod me? Like every game in the series, it will appeal to different people, has its flaws and has a few things they really got right. If you don't like it, just wait for the next one, that's the whole idea.
