All Options- Basically what I mean by 'the type of' is you can choose from any form of media. Vampires for example: You can be the Buffy kind, Interview with the Vampire kind, Twilight kind (doubt that but hey, it's your choice), Blade kind, Elder Scrolls kind, etc. It's the same idea for the other two options too.

General Disclaimer
These will generally be whatever I can think of, with no particular rhyme or reason, but if I hypothetically were to see certain suggestions often enough, I'll consider using them. If you see any error, or loophole, that for one reason or another I have overlooked, I will try to address it in the comments whenever I can, in all bolded text. This won't be necessary on some polls though. Also, some polls may exclude you due to the nature of it's subject. For example: You never played the game in question.

Aw man... I know all of these may seem awesome on paper but I'm not sure I could choose any of these. I don't want to kill other people for sustenance like a vampire or kill because it was out of my control like a werewolf. The cyborg one seems cool at first but they usually have some issues with retaining their humanity (if they even have any left). Besides, how would I be able to shower without short circuiting? I don't want to walk around people smelling like unwashed metallic ass.

All of these polls need a "Kill Myself" option. Can't make you do something if you're dead, eh? :D

I feel like cyborg. But I would have to do some research. I'm sure certain ones can shower. And there are also ones that retain their humanity. The only problem is that with media, everything has to have some bad to it. Maybe a cyborg that only has certain parts exchange...

Question: Would characters from Shadowrun(TTRPG) with cybernetics be classified as cyborgs, or nah?

Some werewolves are basically immortal with full control of their abilities, so yeah, i'd go with that (from the Mercy Thompson series etc).

No downside really, you can still go out in daylight etc, still enjoy normal food etc (although some types of vampires can do both of those).

The Anne Rice Vampires once old enough for instance can walk in the sun just fine. But...in most cases you can't and there is thew hole drinking blood thing (not really into it), also...I get to freaking turn into a wolf.

So yeah, wolf.

And cyborgs are blah.

Yep, they are cyborgs, anything that is part machine and part human is, but....at least in most of the lore, cyborgs lose part of their humanity in the process, feel things less, etc.

I don't like that trade off personally.

True, though, if it's like shadowrun, you could technically not loss much. I play my character like I would if they were totally human. Even though he has a bunch of cybernetics installed...

Hmm unfortunately I have no experience with that whatsoever so I can't say for certain. Do they depend on the cybernetics to actually live? IMO, a cyborg needs the machine part just as much as the organic part to actually survive and function. So I'd say if they can live just fine without them then no, otherwise yes.

I'm tempted to go with vampire but I'd have to brush up on my lore a little bit. The cyborg option doesn't really interest me and most werewolf lore suggests that most don't really have any control over themselves after they turn.

I think it depends on the character. As you can build your character in so many ways. So, I guess it would be yes in certain cases.

Yeah in Shadowrun it's....essense? I forget, but it's what controls how strong magic you can use, that you lose with cybernetics installed. Some of the chars from the books if you read them show signs of loss etc from not having their human body parts anymore as well. They can still think like a human though and the brain/memories are close to the same, but....i wouldn't choose it, and certainly not over being a werewolf hehe.

I do gotta give the guy props for the whole "vampire I could fly" part. I mean, depending on the type of vampire you could have tons of awesome powers (again, Anne Rice for one). Being able to fly, being invulnerable, being able to move things with your mind, start and control fires with it, move faster then a speeding bullet, basically jump over buildings and be superman etc....all are abilities of vampires.

Or you could be a wolf!!!!

Sorry still going with wolf.

We are given control over the lore we choose, which means you would have control of yourself in wolf form (and when you go into wolf form) as that is in many types of lore. Patricia Brigs series for instance (or the underworld movie series etc)...too many to count at this point. Anita blake series etc etc (also Dresden books for some kinds of werewolves)....yeah basically you get all the benefits (fast healing, super strength and speed, extremely strong sense of hearing/smell etc), with a strong allergic reaction to silver. In some cases you also age very slowly if at all (due to regeneration), so you can live for a very long time/forever like a vampire (although often you don't live that long as you fight all the time etc).

Still, not a ton of abilities you gain over all....your mostly human. Cyborgs could gain more abilities for sure, and vampires (depending on the lore) can basically become gods. A werewolf is the least powerful of the 3 I would say, but....no real downside...which means alot to me....as does being a wolf!!

Tough choice. I like the idea of not having much downsides as a werewolf.

But I think I would chose a witcher type higher vampire. Many of them can tolerate sunlight, and only another higher vampire can kill you. Plus, they don't need blood to survive, it just effects them like alcohol. And they can have all sorts of special abilities.

Damnit, missed this poll. While I love werewolves and being a cyborg would be neat as well, vampires have far longer lifespans so... probably that, unless if my cyborg self could someday go full machine

Plus Hellsing's take on vampires makes them absurdly OP (and iirc even the sun doesn't do much to them?) so almost definitely that, I guess. And vampires can turn into animals anyway so you get some of the same fringe benefits.
