I was too young to really appreciate the internet from around 2005 - 2007, and before that I had no way of accessing the internet at all - like I just turned 23 recently, back when YTMND and all that shit was huge I would be like 8-10 years old. I've found a YouTube channel recently called Whang! and he has videos based on old memes and internet happenings - Safety Not Guaranteed was a trip and I lol'd at Brian Pepper. It's actually through that channel that I heard about Geocities making a comeback.

I wasn't part of the early 90s and that stuff.

Didn't have access to a PC.

I figured the Internet was just used for trading news and business.

I didn't jump on until late 1998.

I remember GameFAQs having a pink and grey layout and no message boards.

So I thought about registering my own domain, but there is indeed a set of fields for your residential address. I'm not going to just give that info to a website with an unusual domain, so I've emailed their Zendesk support email address to hopefully find out why that info is required and whether it's trustworthy to give my info over.

If their answer is satisfactory, I'm gonna make my own Geocities site. If this thread hits 78 posts, I'll make a page on my site dedicated to whoever hits #78 - you'll get to choose your background, any pictures displayed on the page and you'll get a 250 word blurb to write whatever you want. You can also choose a midi track if you want as well.

Fun fact: Earlier this year, mentioning building GeoCities pages as a kid/teen on a recent interview helped me garner favor with the recruiter, and I ended up getting the job I was applying for.

Waiting for napster, IRC chat, and that one video website. I can't remember the name, but the best video was a loop of dog faced boy from saving silverman, and it would loop the gif, play "her brother was a dog faced boy" over and over with someone singing "bow wow" in the background.
