The cop didn't pay attention and walked into the wrong home instead of theirs. Actual resident was home and cop saw them, freaked out and shot them in the confusion and the resident died

Depends, but yes most likely. But a cop having more clout with cops and judges isn't injustice. Not being in jail is not innocence.

Jesus Christ.

Classic Zangulus.

They can only hold you in jail for so long, after that they need to press charges or let you go. Big reasons to hold a person in jail is suspicion of danger or flight risk. A cop is (likely) neither of those and the active duty cops know this, something they wouldn't for a random civilian. (Now, if a random civilian was related to or tight with the cops on duty, they'd probably be able to swing the same leeway.)

Even if they pressed charges, they're not required to hold the suspect in jail, they can be released on bail. Bail is not equal for every person, it's determined by a number of factors including the two mentioned above, employment status, community status, and more. Cops are not exempt from jail, but a cop has a better standing on pretty much all bail factors, so the likelihood of them staying in jail for a non-heinous crime are slim to none.

Not sure why I'm explaining any of this to you since you're always hellbent on having the last word. At least try to make it more than two this time.

Evidently that it's ok for cops to randomly kill people accidentally because there's a possibility that a civilian could walk into a home that's not his own and shoot the homeowner out of confused fear?

That's a terrible comparison, but to roll with it a welder doesn't go home expecting to weld; similarly, a cop doesn't go home prepared to encounter danger.

A welder is perfectly capable of welding on or off work with the correct tools, a police officer is perfectly capable
of dealing with potentially criminal encounters on or off work. Police officers don't forget the best way to de-escalate a situation when they're off-duty. They also don't expect to be faced with lethal burglars when they're on the job, so you can't call on surprise either.

She didn't encounter danger. She encountered some dude hanging out in his own home.
Your comparison is terrible, mostly because you called the situation "danger" like a good little boot-licker, but also because it's not accurate to what occurred.
Here, I'll fix it for you:

Because that's what a cop's job is to you, isn't it? To shoot people. That's all she did here, and you're treating what she did as if it's overtime work doing the same mundane tasks she'd be doing on the clock.

I was about to say the same thing about the furniture. For how she got in, it's possible she just opened the door. Some people don't always have the door locked. Maybe he was expecting someone or had just got home a few minutes ago. There are may reasons the door may have been unlocked. Though he furniture things does bug me. But maybe it was one of those pre-furnished apartments. Still could have had a different layout, though.
