Nah, dude is like twice my age and a little weird. Not the worst person here by any means but I can't think of a good reason why I would want to hang out with him.

I fully expect most people to say "I don't see why not, I don't have a problem with him". It's weird how easily everyone here will say yes to these considering how most of us are socially awkward

Maybe it's easily for some of the socially awkward people to hang out with other socially awkward people. Or maybe it won't be as bad because a lot of us sort of know the other people. So, while hanging out in person is different, it a little different from the norm because you sort of know the other person. Or maybe they just think they would have something in common or interesting to talk about. I personally don't have a problem with most of the poster on this board, nor am I socially awkward. So, I wouldn't mind getting a drink with most people. And Wolfy like pizza. And I believe he also like TTRPGs. So, I would get a drink with him...

It just doubles the awkwardness, it doesn't cancel out

Joking aside, I still think the attitude of "s/he's tolerable on a message board so I'd want to hang out with him/her" is a little weird. Like is everyone here just really desperate to make friends, or desperate to appear like they're a friendly person? There's so much you don't know about these people unless you've really talked to them a lot here, or seen their posts for a long time. And common interests really don't mean much... I mean, ICOYAR probably likes a lot of the same video games as me, but I'm staying the hell away from that dude.

Hell yes. He seems the type of guy who would randomly start telling you war stories while down the pub. I find those guys more interesting then the young ones in most cases.

I like smaller groups and a drink one on one is my preference thus I would have no issue.

It's not about making friends. It's about having a drink. I wonder if most folk here have ever stepped inside a boozer.

My 'Yes' votes are fueled mostly by curiosity. I wonder how genuine some posters are. If their true personalities deviate much from their online ones.

The question isn't "do you want to have a drink with...", it's "would you have a drink with..."

There's a difference, imo. Like would you have a drink with someone if you were in the same place as going out of your way to hang with someone

Where did I say that?

All I said was that I'm mostly curious about the posters here. Never said that there weren't other factors at play. It's on a case-by-case basis.

But overall my yesses are founded on curiosity.

Those are basically the same thing. "Would" implies some level of willingness. People can interpret it however they want but I don't know why I'd say yes if I have no actual desire to spend time with the person.

Wanting to go talk to someone to the point you'll go out of your way to meet up is a lot different than merely being willing to meet up if you both happen to be in the same area.
And it's just a drink and chat, and nothing's forcing you to stay, so it's an extremely small time commitment.

The poll is really not asking for much, which is why most people have over 50% willing to hang out with them for a bit, and only the most creepy, super annoying, and/or one dimensional troll users have 2/3 or more not even willing to spend such a minor amount of time talking with them.
