I guess Lana is complaining that 2K made her look different in the new WWE game than she's ever looked and claims she's never wrestled with short hair or wrestled in that outfit. So someone showed a poster of her with short hair in that outfit and she said that was a parody poster. And then someone showed a house show video of her with short hair and she said she's never been on TV with short hair.

And I'm just sitting here like it could be worse, you could have looked like Dana Brooke that one year.

I was big on Coach when he first showed back up. Once he got in the swing of things though I think he was trying to make the on-screen product make sense a bit too much, which not actually paying attention to the product, so his commentary didn't really match up with storylines or even what was on the screen directly being commented on.

I think a Coach where the writing was good and held his interest could be okay but yeah probably for the best he was taken off screen.

It's easy to cherry pick super bad lines for pretty much any WWE announcer. Coach has an easily memorable supply because Alvarez hated him but yeah.

I guess it helps that I can at least understand the logic there.

Like if you can endure the pain for a while you can use the downtime in physical activity to gain your wind back a bit at the price of the pain. The old school bear hug psychology kinda played to this too where the guy would be in it for a while and then gain the energy to break out. Keep in mind I'm not saying it's good commentary-- as a commentator you should be selling the Bear Hug as the wind being squeezed out of them which makes recovering your wind more difficult even if that is the logic, but still.

I can't specifically think of a quote from Corey Graves, Byron Saxton, or Michael Cole that is comparably bad off the top of my head but I know they've existed in the moment. I just can't remember them because Alvarez didn't go on a 4 minute rant about them.

That quote is really blown out of proportion because Graves and Cole decided the best response was to freak out about it instead of trying to cover for it. Literally the instant he said it I thought to myself that it was dumb but easy to salvage - you say that while the bear hug isn't exactly fun to be in, Rousey is more at home with it than she is with headbutts and getting thrown into barricades so Jax taking the match into grappling territory gives Rousey a better chance of having a counter for it. But the Raw commentary philosophy really seems to be that if a mistake is made, it's vital that you draw as much attention to it as you can rather than trying to cover for it and move on.

He was trying so hard to bring sports logic to wrestling. Not only does that only work, to a point, Vince hates sports, doesn't understand sports, and it showed with Coach getting buried all the time.

Not saying it panned out at all. His execution was poor. In the end, he was trying to play a MNF color guy in a "sport" that couldn't be further if it tried.

I mean, he just went on a rant about Michael Cole bring awful on the Mae Young Classic a few times recently.

And I entirely disagree with the concept of the bearhug being fine if she could just endure and gain her strength back when Ronda was screaming in agony and pain as if her spine was being broken.

I don't think it's quite that simple. Corey definitely had problems with Booker explicitly and would jump on him for even fairly borderline stuff. Am I going to say he had problems with Coach? Not as clear but yeah. Even if Vince encourages it I would be surprised if he's commanding it each time.

I'm just saying passing the buck to Vince is a copout because we're not 100% sure he encourages it and even if he does there is clearly some amount of delight and self-motivation in doing it for these guys.
