It isn't clear why (there's no licensed music, to my knowledge), but it's going to be gone on September 4th.

I'm really sad to see this. I'm not sure I'd recommend everyone go out and buy it, the story is forgettable, and the battle system is extremely convoluted, and can be very random at times. It's also extremely unique, though, and I ended up absolutely loving it. Maybe give it a look to see if it's something you might be interested in before it's gone.

(Also, don't get the 360 version. The PC version was a HUGE improvement.)

Wow, I can safely say that there wasn't a single cell left in my brain with the knowledge that this game existed.

With it all coming back to me I remember playing a few hours and thinking the game was a complete dud, but that was...soooo long ago.

the battle system is basically designed for spreadsheets nuts iirc. it's crazy depth is something that can easily push any sane person aside.

I mean, you can still pirate it even if it disappears from Steam.

Also you'll still be able to redownload it, so it's basically the same as buying a physical copy...

normally after a game goes out of print you can still buy it used

And buying used is essentially the same as piracy. Game devs hate it.

My original point was about something not becoming impossible to distribute

well i bought it since it's only 10 euros so i might as well try it not a big loss if i dont like it

It's really not broken ( well, maybe it was on 360. Not sure how it was there). Just don't grind for hours on weak enemies and you'll be fine.

Yeah but whether you pirate it or buy it from some guy on eBay the developer isn't getting any money, so at that point infinite copies at least get more people playing the game and increase publicity

Yeah but the vast majority of that publicity is just going to pirate the developer's next game, too

Besides, used games exist often because somebody wanted money to buy another game, which translates to a higher potential for a new sale

I think people vastly underestimate how often folks pirate as a means to "try before you buy," or to check out games they had zero inclination to buy and later go on to purchase those games. I won't drag out the EU study from last year since it has an admittedly massive margin of error, but there's a very real chance that video game piracy creates sales rather than hurting them in a significant number of cases.

I'm not sure I buy that all too much since piracy numbers never really go down in a series or anything, so it seems odd to suggest that people pirate Game 1, like it, buy it, but then pirate Game 2 anyway as another "try before you buy."

And then you get cases of games like Punch-Out on Wii where the game was pirated like #x more times than it was purchased to an insane degree.

I can atleast kinda understand pirating old games long since out of production. Your SNES, Genesis, and so on. But I find the suggestion that people who pirate current games buy them en masse to be dubious at best.

I don't really think piracy helps increase game sales in any way. My only point was that even if a game is no longer available for digital purchase, it's still available to pirate, so even digital-only games never truly vanish.
