That exchange between Seth and Owens was outstanding.

It's kind of crazy that I was at the last RAW in Toronto and I didn't even watch this one. Shows how much WWE has done to make me less interested in their product.

It wasn't even that long ago!

EDIT: oh shit Summerslam is here next year. Do I buy tickets to a product I don't currently care about?

The crowd actually booed Braun tonight though. At Summerslam and Smackdown they were literally not even having it with Becky.

By the way I've seen a lot of dumb shit in wrestling but tonight's writing is just the dumbest. Braun announcing a cash-in for three weeks from now before turning heel on the same fucking show? Why the fuck would he not just cash in after the beatdown? Dumb.

And great match for ic title. Wonder what they do with Owen's now

Also seth took a crossface a stunner and superkick and dodged a bme. Man that may be the most in kayfabe damage in a match since aj vs cena

So they once again take the person that's more over, and try to make them a heel so they can get sympathy of the person that the audience cares less about?

I suppose this is how Braun loses his cash in. Roman once again overcomes the odds and takes down the evil heel to retain his title!

As far as Owens goes, I think he just signed a 5 year extension not too long ago, so that should be interesting. I wonder how long they keep him off TV, and still trying to figure out the long play here.

I think they are actually going somewhere with Braun surrendering the briefcase tonight. Like Braun and Roman have their Hell in a Cell match with Roman winning, but then Owens comes out with the briefcase and snipes the title. Then it's revealed that acting GM Corbin signed the Braun/Roman match as just a standard title match and not as a cash in, and gave Owens the briefcase to keep him from quitting.

It just seems rather out of place for Braun to give Corbin the briefcase, when every other MITB winner who cashed in with a scheduled match kept the briefcase until the match began. They even threw in some foreshadowing tonight with Corbin demonstrating his power to change matches as they are happening.

This would be brilliant, and I would love it if this happened. I don't know if WWE takes the belt off of Roman so soon, but that's an amazing story and I want to watch it happen. Why can't WWE have writers that know how to do something like that!

Were there any cheers on the Braun turn, or was it pretty much all boos?

I do think Braun works better as a heel, it's just a matter of getting the crowed to boo him. Jim Ross said something in an interview recently about how it's hard to have a guy like Braun be a face (similar to the earlier days of Taker, since they're so much bigger than everyone else). What seemed to get Braun over in the first place was the new and exciting ways he destroyed people (mainly Roman). If they go back to that he's just going to get cheered again.

Which means Braun isn't gonna beat him

Enjoying RAW again even if this week's was "Okay". Seth is the MVP at the minute as he generally has the match of the night.

I honestly don't think Braun would beat him even if he was a face. Vince has waited 4 years for this run with Roman as champ where the Shield was together again to help insulate Roman against his normal boos (since without the Shield, Roman is still getting booed), and he's not going to end that after a month. I don't see Roman dropping the belt prior to Mania without injury or anything like that. My guess right now is the PPV after Mania, so Roman can walk out with the belt again, even if he's finally out of the main event in favor of Charlotte/Ronda.

That being said, I would love it if someone else had the belt, even Corbin. Would prefer Owens or Braun though.

The UC's lineage has been pretty depressing when you think about it. It's Inaugural champ was too mashed up to defend it, the next guy's reign just didn't strike a chord, the guy who took it off him was only keeping it warm for the next bloke who was only just felled the other week.

Honestly I'm fine with a UC Roman Reigns because we have literally never had a long-term babyface run with the title.

And a long term Braun reign would bore me to tears. At least the last time Roman got a world title reign he was putting together great matches with Styles, Rollins, and Ambrose.

The problem with Roman matches is that they tend to follow the same formula of "Roman gets beat up for 20 minutes. Superman punch, spear"

With Braun I at least get to see him turn someone inside out with a shoulder tackle, and shift the ring when he misses his running tackle in the corner and hits the post. Braun's high powered offense and creativity with tossing people around is a lot more interesting (in my eyes) than Roman's 2 moves of doom.

The matches you mentioned, yes. But look at his matches with pretty much everybody else outside of those 3. I'm not saying Roman is a bad worker, I'm just saying that I'd like a little more diversity in his moveset, since superman punch spam followed by a spear is just plain boring, especially when the superman punch is ridiculous to begin with. He does that drive by (I think that's what it's called?) on occasion, and I've seen him do Samoan drops regularly. He had a pretty good sit down powerbomb thing. Maybe my issue is just that I really, really hate the superman punch.

I did forget to mention Roman kicking out of finishers all over the place too (even more than others seem to, since that's become a regular thing for everybody now).

Does WWE have a contract signed already that requires them to come back? If so, they should try to find a way out of it. The hypocracy of sitting there touting everything you do for women is staggering when you look at them going back again (and probably again and again) for wads of cash. Being a business and wanting to maximize profits is fine, but don't pretend you're all for the women's movement blah blah blah and then keep following the money.

It's ridiculous. People sell it like they've been shot, when it's just a jumping wind up punch. If he set it up more like AJ does with the forearm and getting extra momentum off of the ropes and gravity that'd be fine, but he literally just runs, jumps, and punches. It's a jumping punch. Adding the name "superman" to a jumping punch and having people sell it like he's Clark Kent doesn't make it impressive. The guy uses a jumping punch as his number 2 move.

If he was built like Big Show or even Braun it'd be more believable, but he's not.
