18. Jecht
So this might be hard to believe, but I'm not the biggest fan of Tidus. Shocker, right? I find him a combination of whiny and overly-enthusiastic in a way that completely contradicts itself and makes me annoyed at having to use him as the main character of FFX. Enter Jecht. Jecht is Tidus' father, and it a major source of all Tidus' whiny issues. And you know what? If I were Jecht, I'd abuse Tidus too. Jecht's a card-carrying badass who gets similarly sucked up into the sky and deposited in this bizarre new world, and what does he do? He does his goddamn job and travels with fellow card-carrying badass Auron while they defend Yuna's daddy from whatever. I just appreciate Jecht for in-jecht-ing some much-needed masculinity into a game that is FAR too colorful and extravagant for its own good. But more than that, I view him as kinda like Phillip from Shaun of the Dead. Yeah, he's kind of a dick, but to be fair, the son is a fuck-up and Jecht picking at him as much as he does is mostly to try and get him to act like a man.
