She and her husband, Brian called police twice in April after she saw the trailer trash walking in the woods near her and her husband's construction site as that call helped police track down the 29 y/o murderer and busted him. While what she did was the right thing, she said because she called 5-0 first, it made her INELIGIBLE for the big fat reward from Nashville Crime Stoppers!! She said "They said had i called them first and reported the sighting, then i would have been eligible for the reward. But because i called 911 first, i was not eligible" She didn't think of collecting a reward when she called 911 as all that mattered was that anybody in their right mind would have done the same thing and called 911 right away but was still shocked that they won't give her a reward for helping authorities catch the mass shooter. According to the nonprofit organization website, tipster who "directly contact Nashville Crime Stoppers first" and provides information to an arrest, prosecution and indictment of a wanted pereson was eligible for a cash reward. It's determined by a community board of directors but does not exceed $1000. Liz Parrott said she feels for lydia but has to follow the guidelines by their organization as they did not get any tips that led to an arrest through the crime stoppers tip line..although she said it's advertised that tipsters should call them first for a reward, they advise people to call 911 in an "active situation" Lydia said she wasn't concerned about the money but that crime stoppers mislead them and need to make their rules clearer. But between them clearly stating in ads to call them first, and her getting an identical award from the government for it, I don't think she deserves it twice. I do think it's a dumb rule on Crime Stoppers' part to encourage people to call them before 911 in any situation. But that's their rule.
