Or is the genre dead? I have MGSV and Hitman. I was about to buy Blacklist on Xbox One BC but I'm kinda skeptical on how the series has been up until that point.

I have a PS4, Xbox One, and a Switch. Military stealth games like MGS and Splinter Cell are what I usually like. Not a big fan of social stealth (Assassin's Creed series, Hitman) but I did like the new Hitman game.

Came to recommend Hitman. Given your taste for military stuff, you should give Sniper Elite 4 a try

I'll check it out. Thanks! I think I played a demo of one of the Sniper Elite games on the 360.

There are games you can play in Stealth for sure. Dishonored, Prey, Deus Ex

Ghost Recon Wildlands might be worth checking out, I found it played a little better than MGS5 at times. They also just released a new patch that lets you disable the AI teammates so you can truly 100% solo it without three teammates if you want.

Totally forgot about Deus Ex. I have both for current gen, beat the first and didn't really get into the second. Dishonored doesn't really do it for me and Prey kinda seemed more survival action than stealth? I could be wrong though only played the demo. I have one of the Styx games too and I dunno, just glad I got it for free lol

I'll look into Wildlands too. I heard they did a lot of post release work on it. I have a few friends that own it so that might be fun.

Once Mark of The Ninja Remastered comes out for Switch, get it. It's the best stealth game I've ever played.

Newest Hitman is overrated imo and very barebones as a traditional stealth game, hiding and shit is not nearly as important as finding isolated people to take their clothes. I'd call the series more like puzzle games in any case.

MGSV is pretty much the peak of this generation for better or worse. Mankind Divided is fun but imo not very challenging or engaging.

To get super good stealth games I think you gotta go back in time to stuff like Theif 3

I wonder if you would like Alien Isolation.

A lot of the game is more based on stealth rather than brute strength.

How's the new Thief? I have it from GWG but is it worth downloading? Heard it was pretty bad but I've never played any of them.

Don't sleep on the Styx games. Both of them are fun stealth games. Keep an eye on psn/xbl/steam sales, the bundle of both games is usually on sale for $15.

I rented it and could not have been more disappointed. I know a friend who played it and liked it but he never played any others. IMO it failed to capture the fun of stealing valuables is well as the engaging stealth that Deadly Shadows had. Seriously Thief 3 is so comfy, man.

I'm also going to unironically recommend ghost recon wildlands. You can play it however you want but if you play pure stealth/recon style it's really fun as an open world stealth game.

Also check out Invisible Inc.

It is definitely a stealth game, but it is turn based strategy.

Alright I'm probably going to download Blacklist and redownload the first Styx game, then wait for a sale on Sniper Elite 4 and maybe Wildlands lol

And I'm buying the Mark of the Ninja remaster whenever it comes out for sure.

It was so broken >_>. I remember clearing out a whole palace just by camping above a ladder and luring curious guards up it.

I'm not too far in. Got distracted playing Yakuza 0 lol but so far this game is much better than Conviction. It's fun. I'm probably gonna see this game through to the end.

There's multiplayer too so I might get my friend that I gameshare with to link up one of these days.

Yeah Blacklist should still hold up as being one of the better recent stealth games. Some of the optional missions are hardcore.

You can actually sneak through every single main mission in the game in your suit. That's about as hardcore as a stealth game can get.

Watch Dogs 2 gives you some neat abilities to sneak around missions and take people out without being noticed. But it's not really something you have to utilize.

Oh yeah forgot about those games >_>. I need to finish 2, I got into it a couple weeks ago and made really good progress and even bought the expansion packs, then didn't pick it up again.

I wouldn't say the game is really built for that though. If it's like others in the series then jank is involved. In any case I mean I just don't think crouching around in that game is very fun.

Unlike the other games it's designed for it because it's a unique challenge in each mission. The only level that seems a bit too difficult with it is Colorado.

Suit Only/Silent Assassin is one of the easiest ways to beat Hokkaido if you know the right way to do it.

A bunch of the escalations force you to use stealth too. Like forcing you to wield weapons in civilian outfits.

While mgsv does open world stealth overall better, I felt wildlands made it more fun and streamlined in a good way. It's one way in which the ubisoft formula tends to actuslly work well.
