I just had that moment watching an old power rangers episode where Zack had to fight puddies without transforming.

The acting is bad, the chrography is masked by quick cuts and camera angles and the scenes seem to change locations on a whim.

Then I watched and old episode of The Super Mario Brothers Super Show and yikes.

I thought I could handle watching some Power Rangers on youtube. After a couple of seconds of hearing Rita speak I NOPED out of there. No idea how I used to stand her voice, it's literal nails on a chalkboard.

I watched D2 The Mighty Ducks every day, for over 200 consecutive days, when I was 9.

I tried to watch it a few months ago and couldn't even get to their first game.

As a 11 year old I made in fun of power rangers but did watch it. It at least is campy enough to enjoy the ridiculousness of it.

I had kind of the opposite experience while watching Animaniacs with my kid. When I was a kid I just liked it okay, but didn't think it was anything all that special for a cartoon. Some of the characters (like Katie Kaboom) I downright hated because they felt so one-note.

But watching it as an adult, the show is comic brilliance. Even Katie Kaboom is funny to me now

Want to try something weirder, try getting through an episode of The adventures of Sonic the hedgehog, Sonic Underground, Sonic AOTSH and just for completionist's sake, Sonic X.

I can still watch that old OVA where Knuckles has a cowboy hat, Tails is constantly stuffed up and tthere's a cat girl who looks more human with tail and ears like, even now it seems to be more in line with Sonic than any of his previous outings in animation.

IIRC part of this is that the out of suit footage is new and the in-suit footage is just reused from the Japanese original

For me it was old Flash animations.

I dug a couple up from back in the day to show a friend and was ready for us to both be crying in laughter but my face didn't even move. Was a sad day. That said, animated humor (and expectations of it) has changed a lot since back then, it's a lot edgier and cruder than it ever used to be outside of South Park.
