I'm fine with MNF. And now that Gruden's gone from commentating, I'll be honest...I'm kinda interested to see what the four letter network will do with it. Sidenote...I'm still amazed at how good Tony Romo is at commentating.

It was always infinitely better than Thursday Night football. As a greedy football fan, I always kinda like it, but it seemed like every TNF game was absolutly awful and the players hated it (for good reason)

Who did they even replace Gruden with? I forgot about that. Also that Raiders' contract is baffling given how behind the times it sounds like he is.

As for Case, yeah he had a nice season in Minnesota but he's obviously getting a huge o-line downgrade.

I don't know about who will be replacing Gruden either...I always sort of liked/disliked him. All in all (in my personal opinion) I enjoyed his crazy antics. He was a goofball (annoying sometimes, but sometimes I liked him...not sure why)

I don't know much about the Broncos O-line, but last year the vikes O-line overperformed, and Case helped with that a lot by being slippery as AF.

I liked Gruden. He was fun to listen to. Thursday night football needs to fucking die. What's the gimmick this year? They've tried division games and color rush jerseys so far in an attempt to make people watch it.

Are any of you going to get the Switch online service whenever it comes? For $20 a year I feel like you can't go wrong but I'll probably wait until Smash unless there's a surprise with the classic games at launch.

I have to admit though, as stale as the NES offerings are, it would be kind of cool to co-op SMB3 online

I'm just trying to think of a saving grace for all these old games. Though SMB3 has too much trolling potential in 2-player now that I think of it. You can do shit like blow the whistle at the end of a world and then go back to the same world and have to play it over again

I'm going to get it for Smash but I think it's gonna be really bad. The only saving grace is that it's $20 instead of $50 but that just tells me it's gonna suck, and they're hyping up NES games like that's some kind of selling point when they're not.

I did a quick search online about pricing and it looks like they are offering a family membership for $35 a year. I am not sure if it is really necessary, the website makes it seem like it will be needed but I think if I get the individual it should be enough for my kids to use.

Unless everyone playing the game locally will have to have an account to play against another group outside the home.

I have played it but it doesn't really seem like a fun online mode to me. The advantage of that mode was that you could share with a fellow gamer in your immediate vicinity. This would still be ultimately a solitary experience with some watching sprinkled in

That's true. I think the idea of adding online multiplayer to these old games is at least cool in theory, but there aren't a lot of simultaneous multiplayer games in that era. I mean there's stuff like Balloon Fight or Mario Bros. but those aren't exactly fun for very long.

That's why they really need to go beyond NES with this. Smash 64 would be cool

They were just talking about the god Danny Almonte on the Cards game because our backup catcher Francisco Pena caught for him in the little league world series. For those unfamiliar with Danny he was the best little league pitcher ever but then it turned out he was actually 14 so his team had to forfeit all their wins. I just looked him up and I knew he threw a perfect game that little league world series but the funniest part is that he struck out 62 of the 72 batters he faced

So this switch online thing is basically the same old crappy online that used to be free, but now they charge you and throw in some NES games

The top of the NL is packed so tight it's pretty crazy. Like 6 teams within a game of each other. The Cubs are the only team with any kind of separation but it's only like 3 games.

Grandia 1 and 2 are the most random Switch ports announced at gamescom so far but Saints Row the Third is up there too.

It was the longest 9 inning game the cards have played since 2000. I went to bed in the 5th and they had another 2.5 hours to go. This reliever on the dodgers Baez is my new Arch enemy

That's not true. They give you the ability to have cloud saves that everyone else has for free

Sony actually makes you pay for cloud saves too. IDK about Xbox

Does Sony have some other way to back up saves though, like maybe USB or external HDDs? I see people complain about the paid cloud saves like it's a classic dumb Nintendo move, so I thought it was unique.

I'm sure they do but I've never looked into anything like that. I don't know that I've seen that many people complain about paying for switch cloud saves, I think the main criticism is it's been well over a year since launch and they're only just now being implemented.

Honestly cloud saves are nice but I don't really care about them either way. I've had so many game saves wiped over the years and it sucks but you know... You just move on with your life

Looks like the Nats are finally blowing it up. Murphy and Adams are gone, Harper was almost gone but the Dodgers didn't make a good enough deal I guess. How does that work, can they try again? Can somebody who's not the Dodgers still get him?

He was pulled off waivers so I think that means you can put him back on and it starts the process again. But I don't really know the process well enough to speak authoritatively.

Apparently Bryce is stuck in Washington now. Guess they figured it was worth it at this point just for the higher odds of re-signing him

I don't think anyone really cares. No one expected him to actually get traded just because he was put on waivers. It's always worth checking to see what's available. Anyway, they might also think that the deals they were offered weren't better than the extra pick even if he chooses not to re-sign (he's not going to re-sign btw)

Where do you think he'll go, Yankees? That seems so terrible and cliche but given what he'll command it's gotta be like a top five or top ten payroll team. The current top ten BTW:

Do any of those scream Bryce Harper? Cardinals sound like a good dark horse candidate to me. Signing him sounds like a total Mariners move but the real question is would he want to play for them, and I think no.

I don't think he'd want to play here either but I agree that it actually makes sense. They just tried to trade for Stanton as well. Cubs makes sense, they don't really have space because of their commitments but they'd make it work. Dodgers makes sense, maybe still the Yankees or Red Sox though neither one seems to have a spot for him in the outfield (he'd probably have to play CF which he's done but eh).

I don't know where to expect but I'll just be lame and guess the Dodgers for now. They have tons of money obviously and they probably need him more than the other famous money teams.

The Yankees have a bunch of tall power hitters in the OF, and those type of guys are prototypical candidates for moving to 1B. The Red Sox OF would be trickier but either way I feel like a team with money to burn would make room for Harper, even if it's not ideal.

Maybe I'm overestimating his appeal though. I do think this year has largely reset everyone's evaluation of him and his 2015 looks more and more like an aberration than a demonstration of his true potential. Can we even consider him the biggest FA this winter or is that Machado at this point?

So they're already struggling to get all the Yankees guys into the lineup so Stanton has to DH a bunch which sucks for them. Not saying they couldn't make it work because of course they could, it's just a little complicated.

I still think Bryce is probably a bigger deal than Manny especially now that he's getting hot, and personally Manny's 2017 still kind of bothers me, it bothers me at least as much as Bryce 2018 does. I think they'll probably both be hall of famers though so whatever I guess

Harper is really good. Even if you think he's overrated or whatever he's still really good and reaching free agency at an uncommonly young age. And Machado is great too but after an insane first month or two has just been very good instead of super elite. But he's also very young. I kinda think Harper might take like a one year deal worth like $30 million or something from the Nats.

He is really good, even this year. If you could guarantee he'd put up 10 years in a row at exactly this level, he'd get a 10 year deal worth like $240M

I know he's really good, but I meant really REALLY good. I do think he has been overrated but that's because the media was looking to prop up their next chosen one. It's not really his fault.

I doubt he'll do a one year deal. Any player who's smart is gonna go with something long term because you never know what can happen. I'm glad the Dodgers didnt snag him though because fuck them for trying to get a monopoly on star players.

It'll depend on what his offers look like. I think a short deal is possible if he's not getting the massive long term money he wants. If he's on a one year deal and puts up monster numbers next year then he might get that like $300+ million deal people had been speculating about. But if he gets offers around that this year he would probably just take it.
