She has an 87% chance of breast cancer and you think its a stupid reason?

By that logic, having someone point a gun at you, but they only have an 87% chance of hitting you...you'd just stand there?

And back on topic, yep, she's a definite MILF.

That tactic seemed to work out well quite often for enemies whenever I used Norris in Chrono Cross lol!

On topic. Eh. I can see why others would yet does nothing for me.

Not the same because you don't know the % at which it might happen. Statistically those things are generally very low. Checking if she might get breast cancer it gave her a very very high chance. Enough of a high chance it wasn't worth taking the risk of it not happening.

Stop being so Krazy.

We have developed a whole array of safety features to keep up safe during an accident.

However, you can monitor for that *and* correct when it starts to develop. Or is there some benefit to preemptive care? Like did they remove less than they might otherwise?

Some people just prefer not to take the risk. She already had her children so she didn't need her breasts anymore for their intended function. She had them removed and can have reconstructive surgery if she wants. It's really not a big deal. It's better than developing cancer and hoping you've caught it early enough even with vigilant screenings. What if she were to get a type of cancer that was very aggressive and spread very quickly between screenings? It could have been avoided had she removed her breasts knowing she had an 87% chance of developing cancer because she did genetic testing.

If it is going to help them and they want to do that, yes.

Plus skin cancer is a bad example, the only reason you would get a high chance of skin cancer is if you weren't taking the proper precautions out in the sun on a regular basis. It is not genetic.

But why wait? BRCA mutation cancers are not nice and just go away when you find them. They're often aggressive and metastasize quickly. If you had 24/7 monitoring then sure, no problem. But women don't live with a X-ray or MRI stuck to their boobs all day and night so that's not possible.

Why do people get colonoscopies at age 50? Because they are screening for polyps. Well why don't you just wait until you get polyps to do the colonoscopy? Because you don't know you have polyps until you get the colonoscopy. And if one of those polyps happens to be the aggressive kind, then you're already at risk for cancer that could have been screened for years before.

Aren't the signs for colon cancer less obvious than breast cancer anyway? Is there even an at-home way of looking for signs for colon cancer? Doesn't really seem apples-to-apples.

It's just preventative health in either case. And yes, there are signs (although not very specific ones) of colon cancer. Stools with blood (dark or bright), feeling extremely tired, unexplained weight loss, noticeable change in bowel habits (diarrhea or constipation), and obviously having a family history of colon cancer; these are all things you would probably notice (over time) if you're middle-aged and were in previously good health. However, these things aren't always noticeable or present which is exactly why people are just told to get a screening colonoscopy at age 50. If they see something then they'll remove it because it's easier, and more time/cost efficient to just get rid of a possible nidus of cancer rather than wait until it has metastasized to the liver and needing all sorts of chemotherapy and colon resections.
