I lost my **** when I went to Malaysia and saw an A&W restaurant for the first time.

I was hooked on sarsaparilla and root beer as a teen.

I live in America now and have 2 nearby locations.. should probably go soon

i don't think about A&W Restaurants every day....i don't think anyone in this country does

A&W Isn't like a mcdonalds or starbucks where there's like one on every street corner so forgetting them isn't some impossibility

They're common everywhere. A quick google search reveals that there are 1,200 A&W locations.

It's just easy for NMB to forget about A&W because he never leaves his house. For anyone with an actual life, it's not easy to forget A&W.

I went to I think 2 A&W's during my trip through Canada last year. Had poutain for the first time at one of them

While driving from San Diego, CA to Lake Havasu, AZ, we would stop in Parker Dam, CA to go to the A&W restaurant there, when I was a teenager.

A&W's in Canada is a completely separate company that split from the US company decades ago. They have absolutely no affiliation anymore.

I forgot about Johnny Rockets, then I went to Norway and saw one there. I guess there are only 4 in Europe, and I happened to see one. Decided to eat there since I hadn't seen one in about 10 years, and it was much better than I remember its American counterpart tasting.

I grew up with A&W just 20 miles from where it was founded. Back in the day you could park, and order from your car, and a carhop would bring it out on a tray that hung on your car window. Kinda like the way Sonic does it.

It's hard to find a standalone A&W anymore. It's usually paired with a KFC, or Long John Silvers, or Pizza Hut.

I drive past an A&W at least 3 times a week and in my hometown there was an A&W that I went to quite often. I'll never forget about the food.

The food is ok,but for the price, you don't get a lot of food. Would rather go to most other burger joints. The more expensive places have far better burgers and the cheaper places are not much worse, but you get a lot more food for less money. So only end up eating there once in a blue moon.

This isn't really true. The restaurant chain may have been sold to another company, but that company can't make its own recipe and call it A&W root beer.

A&W root beer is a copyrighted recipe. You can't just make your own different recipe and call it A&W.

The real reason why the restaurant drink tastes different is because it is a fountain drink. Fountain drinks always taste different (and better) than their canned equivalents. The aluminum in cans affects the taste, making it more metallic. This is true whether its Pepsi or Coke or A&W.

A&W is known for their root beer, and their root beer is great.

The food is an afterthought. It's good enough, but not great. Nobody really goes to A&W for their burgers. They go to A&W for the root beer. Going to A&W for the burgers is like going to Dairy Queen for the burgers. Dairy Queens specializes in ice cream, and A&W specializes in root beer.

Now I want a root beer float.

I always think this for the first few, but by the end of a bag I tend to find them too salty. They're best split with somebody else, I'd say.

It's just easy for NMB to forget about A&W because he never leaves his house. For anyone with an actual life, it's not easy to forget A&W.

To my knowledge their advertising is minimal to non-existent and to argue that they are common everywhere just because of their total location number is misleading (and 1200 really isn't that many compared to the bigger chains that number in the tens of thousands). The distribution of their locations is uneven and depending on where you live you may never see them. While some states have a ton of them, others only have a few, and a few states don't even have any A&W Restaurants. Personally I'm peripherally aware of them, but their food sucks and I don't normally drive by any so I don't tend to think about them.
