I realize nobody will want to choose the second answer, but the poll is anonymous, so just be honest if you know that's you. This isn't about shaming anyone, I just want to see where people place themselves in the poll. This also is NOT aiming at a discussion about politics. It's specifically regarding how you view political discussion in a general sense and participate accordingly.

Most of my life I would have chosen option 3.

I went with 1 at this point.

I basically DGAF anymore.

Definitely #1. I'm just gonna say my piece and leave. You can articulate what my political ideology is based on that. I don't personally align with anything and I am on a daily basis labeled everything and anything.

I like that the bottom option was included. I'm a rare believer that debate isn't about winning, but by solidifying the strengths of both sides as well as exposing their weaknesses.

Yeah, I went with three under the umbrella of "nobody is trying to change anyone's mind, it's just a conversation". As soon as somebody tries to force their "correct opinion" on me, I'm done and just don't want to bother anymore.

Online, it's a matter of no longer replying. In person, not so much. I tried being the bigger one with my cousin's husband one day and walked away from him three times. It ended with me yelling at him to go fuck himself, right out in the street (because I literally left the building the third time), and the neighbours all came out and were going to call the cops because they thought a fight was going to break out. I walked off and then he spent the evening texting my phone from two different numbers about how he was right. I didn't talk to him for 5-6 years after that.

Yeah, agreed. I honestly don't fit in a side for the most part, because my number one choice of government is what Liechtenstein has. Most people don't even know how it works, let alone care, because they just get dug into what local options are and can't fathom the idea of anything new or different than the boring old options we have. I lost it with my aunt the other day because I mentioned that and she is in the number 2 spot, and didn't care what my answers to her questions were. They were already wrong before I said them.

I suppose treat things as "case by case" basis comes closest to my approach. Though when someone else who also treats things as "case by case" basis comes to a different conclusion I don't automatically dismiss their views as wrong either. There's really 2 questions being asked here.
How rooted are you in your own views?
How do you respond to criticism of your views?
I have a sort of fascination with the thought process and take every opportunity to explain my own in the hopes that the "other side" of an issue will do the same. I don't "understand where the other side is coming from", but I want to explore that.
