I really don't think this system is viable in a gas powered vehicle and its annoying that I have to manually turn it off every time I drive.

The engine shuts off when at a stop then restarts when you hit the gas again.

i dont think it wastes gas, that feature iirc is in a lot of hybrid cars.

I had that in my Civic Hybrid. It just uses the battery to start/stop. I found it somewhat annoying.

In hybrid cars it makes perfect sense but for gas it's just feels like an EPA snafu. Sure it's using a deep cycle battery, a more robust starter and certain conditions have to be met but the overall gas saving is under 5%.

Starting a modern car isn't very wasteful at all. A stop longer than something like 5 seconds justifies it, I think.
