I'm surprised that Nolan Arenado is leading the NL vote for third base since Kris Bryant not only plays for the Cubs, but is actually good and merits consideration. Not complaining, but surprised.

Did they change something in the voting rules? There's not some big dumb bandwagon team dominating votes this year, a lot of the choices are actually pretty decent.

Maybe they're handing out fewer paper ballots or something? That was always how like the Royals would get a ton of guys in. Just by handing out massive amounts of ballots during games.

I should say he merits consideration as an All-Star in general, not the starter. Arenado is better in pretty much every major category. I don't mind if the best player isn't the starter sometimes though, it's a popularity contest. It only gets annoying when you have a big bandwagon boom, or washed up guys like Jeter start every year in front of up-and-coming stars

Speaking of Jeter, I'm glad all those old Yankee (and Red Sox) stars have finally moved on. Hopefully MLB will be free of farewell tour circle-jerks for a while.

Apparently he was a potential #1 but basically missed his year at Mizzou. Isn't that basically what happened with Kyrie Irving at Duke? Except Kyrie still went #1.

If this guy is as good as Kyrie then that's probably a steal at 14. I realize it's silly to compare the two though. Porter probably believes the earth is round, for one (we can hope)

Okay, it would definitely be a steal, but that made sense to me when I posted it. I was trying to emphasize that I don't think Kyrie is really all that good for a #1, though he's certainly several spots above a #14. It was just tempered excitement. I'd be happy with Kyrie-level, but I'd be even happier if he was as good as a #1 talent like AD or LeBron.

That would be huge for the Nuggets if he was as good as LeBron.

Around midnight, there were several earthquakes that originated in my city and the biggest one was 3.1. It was enough to make me nervous, but not enough to do any damage. It's a very strange feeling when the solid ground below you starts moving back and forth. Do you guys get earthquakes where you live?

I've felt earthquakes in Milwaukee that originated in Illinois a couple of times, but they weren't much. They felt like big trucks driving by.

The only time I was both present for an earthquake and able to feel it I was like 16 and I had just gotten over the flu. I could feel the earth moving and my body shaking for like 8 seconds and I thought it was just a really bad flu shiver and I was gonna have to go to the hospital. Then my older brother came downstairs and asked if I felt the earthquake and I was relieved / alarmed at my lack of awareness

Those sound about right. I've felt smaller earthquakes that I thought was a train passing by at first.

This time it sounded like someone in my house fell down the stairs. I heard several thumps as the house was shaking but then I realized nobody in my house weighs enough to make the whole house shake.

The only disaster we have to worry about here (if you don't count blizzards) is tornadoes, and even those aren't really that common and I think they're more in the eastern part of the state. It's nice to live in a good state that's not coastal where you have to worry about the insane hurricanes and rising sea levels that our government doesn't give a shit about

I remember feeling an earthquake during an 8am class in college. About half the class started looking around in the middle of it and the other half didn't notice it. It was weird but it wasn't particularly damaging as I recall.

We are right in the heart of tornado country though. They are pretty common though it mostly results in hiding in the basement more than anything else.

I know the triple crown is dumb but Arenado is in the top three of each category right now. I also know that guys being in the top five of each category this time of year isn't really uncommon, but you never know what might happen! He's already led the NL in homers and RBIs before (I mean separately, but it might have been both one year also)

Well we know that a Rockie always wins the batting title and if it's him this year then he probably will lead the league in RBI too. So I'd say he has pretty good odds.

I can see Freddie Freeman catching up. And weirdly, Eugenio Suarez might come close too, because apparently he's a top-tier 3B now.

Maybe not in batting average, mind you, but he'll get there in HR/RBI.

Whenever I hear the name of Giants pitcher Pierce Johnson, my donger doesn't like it.

I'm playing Alpha Protocol on Steam. I got it for $1.49 in the summer sale. Clunky to play but an interesting choice based RPG by Obsidian. if you're into that kind of thing (or even if you're not) $1.49 is obvioulsy a pretty amazing price.

if it's that cheap why not just buy it for everyone?

For the latest random Sports Topic ranking, I thought it would fun to think of my top ten games of all-time, EXCLUDING Nintendo. I'm not just leaving out first-party, but stuff like N64 Rare games and NES Mega Man, because even though those have been released later on other consoles, they're basically just ports or emulations of Nintendo console games.

Anyways, in no particular order:

Minecraft

Stardew Valley

Something like that. I keep getting to 10 and then remembering games I forgot and swapping them out for something else on the list.

Probably not as interesting for you guys to do since you already play a lot more variety. Maybe an Ultima list with no PS games?

I said no particular order but as it turns out I'd say the top 5 are rock-solid entries on there, then the bottom 5 are ones I could see myself swapping out if I think of something else
