Gonna spend the rest of this work day figuring out other references to horse racing in video games.

Sometimes I bring my Switch to work to play on my lunch break and on Friday this caused a crazy guy I never talk to tell me all of his video game opinions and they were all terrible, including telling me how stupid the Switch is as I was playing it but the one that has really stuck with me is he said he doesn't like Super Mario 64 because he doesn't like the storyline. Which on its own is inane enough but then he goes "you never even know what happened to the princess!" And I said "yes you do Bowser kidnapped her" and he said "I guess but it never really tells you." And I didn't want to talk to him anymore so I didn't say bitch Toad tells you that the minute you walk through the door.

Oh also he said "There's no motivation for doing anything! (affecting a high voice) Oh Mario I baked a cake for you! The cake is a lie."

Why are there so many cretins at your work? Maybe mine was like that too, but I never talked to them. Well, there was one guy I knew and didn't like, but he wouldn't be like that.

Also at the end of the game she says "Let's make a delicious cake for Mario" and the closing frame is a picture of a cake

The cretin who I wish would die left some stuff for me to do last week and I pretended I didn't see it out of both spite and a hope that it would encourage him to do his own job but instead he tattled on me today. He's like 60

Also the guy who talks about hentai and watches awful youtube all the time got demoted and I got his job and now he's super mean to me except for when I bring up Zelda or whatever and then it's like nothing happened

It's good that you didn't continue to engage with that work guy. Sometimes i do that out of politeness and then people think we're friends and that they can some spew their BS at me whenever they want. I guess no one else likes them, so me simply listening without telling them to fuck off is better than they usually get.

Today at work I got John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt stuck in my head. None of the recent high school graduates had heard of it. It shocked me to my core.

I was playing it in the break room that day and then today I just played it at my desk instead to avoid talking to him again. That's the new move for me going forward I guess. Avoid at all costs.

This is crazy but there's a girl who's only a few years younger than me at my job who knows like literally nothing I reference ever. But I think even she would know that song. I hope. To me that's like saying you've never heard Frere Jacques or something. It's fundamental.

Fuckin hell, the Cards have struck out 18 times tonight. It's 4-3 and only not quite over yet because of a dropped strike 3 just now.

Yes, they are winning now but their bullpen sucks ass so we'll see if they hold it.

I just gasped as the cards lost on a walkoff two run double. Ozuna lays out to catch a ball and misses and it goes to the wall.

Since posting that the Rockies gave up eight runs across the eighth and ninth innings. You might just say that's a bad night but I swear that's happened like six times this month. I'd be amazed if they didn't have the worst bullpen in the league at this point, seems like everyone has a 7 or 8 ERA.

Remember when they gave a whole bunch of dollarydoos to some relievers and baseball pundits were like "I guess they're going to follow the KC/Cleveland model to win games", okay but they're still the Rockies everyone is destined to suck at pitching

Well that Rockies bullpen sure isn't good! Looking at the fangraphs leaderboard now, the Cards are 25th in reliever WAR and the Rockies are a spot below, but fangraphs pitching WAR is based on FIP instead of runs allowed. The Rockies pen has a 5.75 ERA! That's actually only marginally worse than the Royals at 5.67, and the Royals are at the very bottom in WAR. The Rockies *only* have a 4.46 FIP so they have 0.3 WAR combined and the Royals are at -1.3.

That Royals squad feels like it's probably gonna be one of those bullpens that at the end of the year they tell us was the worst in MLB history. Plus they just traded Herrera

I think the Reds last year were the first team to ever have a negative bullpen WAR. Obviously, at -1.3 the Royals have a hell of a lot of work to do to not be the second.

The Brewer's started their slide down sooner than I thought they would. I had them to begining their slide a week before the all star game.

I just fount out that Hunter Strickland broke his hand punching a door last night and now he's out 6-8 weeks. I don't know if I should be upset or not.

I would be all over a straight up Wario-Waluigi team up game. Also, as long as we're tangentially talking about Overwatch again here, wouldn't it rule if those guys had an overwatch type game and you could hear a WAH HA HA right as Wario is using an ultimate

Last night at hockey a guy broke his ankle. Apparently they have to cut the skate off with a saw in that situation most of the time

Did I tell you guys that I missed the softball playoffs? They were on father's day and I wasn't convinced we were going to have enough people to field a team anyway so I was kind of bothering the group text to make sure it was worth my time to abandon the festivities and go home. Eventually I was convinced to head out to the field so I got my mom to drop me off at my apartment. My car is behind the building in a private lot and there's only one way out of the street it's on and there was a damn fire truck blocking the way. Traffic cones and civil servants everywhere too. Me and a couple strangers I ended up talking to asked around and it turned out they had trapped all of our cars in there because there had been a gas fire under the street that sent a manhole cover flying. It wasn't safe to walk on the street let alone drive so I texted the group that someone had to pick me up or I couldn't come. The only reply was a guy telling me to uber instead. I didn't reply to that because that's ridiculous, $25 to see out our unwinning season in the 101 degree heat index. That was the last text on that thread

That's some bad luck. Nice of your teammates to help out though.

The best thing about the Cards playing a day game while I'm at work is I don't have to watch them when I get home.

Supposedly the Charlotte locker room didn't like him. Also what happened to him? He was going to be the next great big man, but he's kinda...average.

He was the next great big man, then the league evolved and he didn't. Even bigs who never put up threes early in their careers are doing it regularly now. Dwight's still the kind of guy who's useless outside the paint. He's basically Andre Drummond or DeAndre Jordan at this point. Those guys can average an easy double double but they have no outside game, miss a lot of free throws, and might be occasional all-stars but no team with them as their best player is going to be particularly good.

Also, every locker room seems to hate him. Four teams now in four seasons.
