I've never been a fan of the practice in movies when they feel the need to open a movie with a large summary about the movie's setup (they're kind of pointless most of the time because we see what we just read a few minutes later).
It's always been kind of weird to me that Star Wars made this into a tradition and I really appreciated Rogue One for dropping it and letting the film itself explain what's going on. Star Wars ripped it off from Buck Rogers because it was basically a love letter to all the kinds of films George Lucas liked. It just sort of stuck. They could probably drop it after IX

Nah, I think omitting it was entirely stupid.
It's especially dumb now because Disney is counting the spin-offs as canon anyway and for the last however many years we've had videogames with the opening crawl and even the canon Clone Wars movie had it (IIRC?) so... What's the point? Kinda too late now, though. It's not a huge deal I just don't think it ever really made any sense and it always felt more like Star Wars with than without. --- "I still have a tattoo to get, that says I'm living in the moment." ... Opening Crawl should be reserved for the Primary Story Line.

Solo is weird.
It didn't have a crawl, but it DID have an opening bit of writing in the same font as "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away" basically providing some preliminary exposition. Came out a little awkward to me. --- CyricZ ... Copied to Clipboard!
