Ya know, I haven't seen much people talk about this movie
The thing is I don't think having something darker automatically makes it better someone I know solely believes thats why majora's mask is better than OoT but I dunno in this case, i think it might apply Theres a somber tone to Incredibles 1, its basically Watchman Jr. Government forces them to step down, they allude to past heroes dying or their deaths are the reasons for certain things Mooks straight up die, they go out of their way to point out that the villains WILL kill the heroes hell, Bob is led to believe his family was killed and he almost commits murder in retaliation yea, none of that is here, its MUCH more family friendly and "Yay super heroes are real again" at the end it was still a fun time but its much more of a family film here. But...they still tried ....to act like the original a few times? that flashback where the father dies, and theres some mild cursing here and there? a period joke as well. I don't think even they knew what they were going for the film was fun but it fell into certain conventions, straight up started rehashing certain things, going as far as to forget some things in the original so they can redo it here, and becoming WAY too predictable. (who didn't see one of the siblings turning on everyone?) Even though they DID raise the stakes by having them fight other supers, it just somehow felt like they didn't raise them either. I dunno. It went from men with guns willing to kill children in the first one to super hero saturday morning cartoon fights. It kinda went from telling a slightly more mature story, not pulling punches for the kids and treating them with respect , to this gag filled, slapstick comedy that just so happens to have super heroes The movie was just not what I was expecting, it was fun, but ...not incredible --- ... also I have seen memes sprout up in the past 5 or so years saying how fine Elastagirl is
I think they actually ascended some of those and made her much more gorgeous in this movie She has bigger eyelashes, made her features softer, and well, made her hips and ass bigger. They even had her in a bathrobe. They didn't real much there but ...still I ain't complaining --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I felt that way too coming out of the theater, but I've come around on it.
Incredibles 1 was a deconstruction, but 2 is a reconstruction. The world is still decently "dark" but more hopeful in tone. The plot isn't really as good, but I think that's largely because I don't think they could have topped Syndrome (though let's be real, the twist in 1 that the secret island company is secretly evil would probably be just as obvious as 2's if we were to watch it for the first time today). It's not gonna go up there with Pixar's greats but I'm happy with what we got. The movie itself isn't incredible, but the execution is. The dialogue is still sharp, and the music, fight scenes, and effects are actually great. It's really easy to overlook how good those were done. If they kept making movies like this, I'd keep watching them. --- DPOblivion was far more determined than me. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I liked it. I don't really have any complaints about it. Jack Jack was more amusing than I thought he'd be. I bust out laughing at the restaurant scene. My daughter liked it but was a little bit freaked out by the Screenslaver glasses being put on the heroes. I was curious if Saul Goodman would be the villain.

I loved it but man that "twist" was way too obvies.
And before somebody spouts the whole "made for kids/families" shtick the original movie came out when most of the target audience WERE kids and most of us have matured since then. Not everyone has started families of their own yet and even those of us who did might not have children old enough to appreciate the finer nuances of the plot. Sure Pixar's always been about family-friendly entertainment, but I feel like they could have set the bar a little higher here. That said my inner kid was overjoyed by the Jack-Jack versus the Masked Menace scene, second only to Elastigirl's epic comeback. RIP Elasticycle. --- "You're stronger than you believe. Yeah I expected a bit more to that backstory at some point.
I dunno, it wasn't super DARK but it still felt "mature" to me with the bits about Mr. Incredible handling everything, and breaking the law to fix the law, and all that. I wonder if the 2 Supers that the siblings Dad tried to call were killed by Syndrome In the first movie, Gazerbeam was the corpse that Mr. Incredible found on the island who found out the password Kronos which was vital to bringing down Syndrome he was also at Bob's and Helen's wedding and there was a newspaper article about his civilian persona being missing post-relocation act, thus foreshadowing that part of the plot about the supers trying to come back so I can at least vouch for him, but the lines were cut because of the super ban and he was probably still alive at that point in time of the flashback in part 2 --- ... I was highly impressed with the animation throughout the movie. I also laughed a lot, but I feel like the movie wouldn't be as funny on a second watch since a lot of it was just Jack-Jack being a goofy baby. Which is actually kinda lazy on their part, but hey it worked I suppose.
My biggest disappointment was Dash, I expected more from him since he was so cool in the first movie. Not once did he have any cool superspeed moments like running on water. The movie was really just about Jack-Jack. Elastigirl was cool though, seeing how creative they got with her powers was highly entertaining and I remember wishing they would make more superhero movies with this animation, since they can do so much more with it than live-action. --- Let the past die.
