That panel was great. They had every one of the main cast there (which was funny, because it meant Matt Mercer blew off going to the Overwatch panel earlier that day for this), and they did all these improv sketches in character. The only disappointing thing was they wasted the last half promoting a Persona 5-themed food truck. I tried that Big Bang Burger, and it did not live up to the hype.

Hmmmmmm I'm gonna make a bold prediction, and if I'm wrong then at least people can laugh at me. Don't tell me if it's correct or not. I predict: Haru's jerk fiancee is the son of the bald politician guy who got Brent Johnson arrested. I base this on the fact that her father mentioned her fiancee is connected to someone important politically and that they bothered to make a face for him, which means he must be at least a little important.

I'm not sure off-hand but if you have it as a Persona there should be a button (L2, I think) that lets you see a short blurb on its background when you're on the screen that shows its stats and skills. You can use it on anything you have registered in the compendium and your party members as well.

yeah enemies start using insta-kill moves the deeper into the game you go, so you might want to have Personas with anti-death skills on them

Like Leon said your safest/most reliable option is to get in the habit of using Personas with null/repel light/dark. And trying to get/pass the skill versions of those down if they don't have it naturally.

Other solutions include the skill Tetraja which is a spell that targets the entire party and provides each person with a one-time block to hama/mudo skills. Takemi also sells an (expensive) item called Homunculus that is used up if hama/mudo lands and would kill someone. However, not only is this expensive but your party members can eat through your supply of them leaving you in the cold. I'm not sure which rank you need with her for her to sell it though.

There are also a couple other passive skills that deal specifically with instadeath skills but I don't recall them offhand and they're inferior options to Null/Repel Light/Dark anyway.

There were angels using instadeath moves a lot in Kaneshiro's Palace, but they never once targeted Joker. I'd assumed the game didn't target him with those on purpose to not be jerks, but apparently it was just luck.

one thing i think is a cardinal sin in video games

insta kill hits when you can't actually do much to avoid them and it forces a loss of progress

actually getting hit by one in persona 5 isn't common enough to be a major problem but the fact is you can definitely still get hit by it and it's pretty annoying

Kaneshiro's Palace > Maderame's Palace > Kamoshida's Palace > Futaba's Palace > Okumunda's Palace

Combining both aesthetics and actual gameplay stuff in the palaces, that is.

The Okumura Arc is the weakest in the game IMO. Good news is the next one is the best IMO.

Okumura beated. I didn't even realize that that was the real boss fight, I thought the minions were just the 'first form' before Okumuda's real boss fight.

Dun dun dun, Mysterious Figure kills Shadow Okumura as we left. Guess I was wrong about Morgana. I assume this will screw him up in the real world so he can't tell us anything useful, but if this is all a story from Joker's perspective, how did he know about this to tell Sae? I also, the SIU Director tells his boss that someone named "he" will handle "the matter." Gettin' conspiratorial here.

I actually kind of like how anticlimactic that boss fight is, as weird as that is to say.

And yeah, I don't think Joker is actually reciting everything you do and see verbatim to Sae. He doesn't have 80 hours to do all that...!

That's true, but of all the bosses so far only Kamoshida was at all physically impressive. Kaneshiro was just some fat guy and Madarame was an elderly artist. Neither of them were likely to confront anyone directly. Anyway, assuming nothing major happens with Okumura after these weeks are up, I'm calling him as the worst major villain so far. He barely did anything and had the most boring personality of them.

Gonna stop for now, but I'll say this: I've had Kawakami's bonuses to letting you slack off since almost as soon as they were available, and I've only had it activate twice. It seems like the least reliable and useful power. What does sleeping in class even let you do?

Sleeping in class was really beneficial in Persona 3 because your characters could actually get fatigued, which would worsen their stats. I don't know that it actually accomplishes anything in 4 or 5, but I never do it because I don't want to miss out on something else.

A lot of Persona 5's bosses, while thematically appropriate, aren't engaging. There's not very much strategy to them and most of them have special events that make the fight significantly easier. The game gets better about this in the latter segments of the game but stuff like the final boss in Futaba's palace is essentially a non-fight.

The best usage of free class time is to make stuff because it increases your proficiency.

Style over Substance is okay in moderation but I miss the tough bosses from Persona 3 and Persona 4. Made all the preparation I did beforehand feel more important. I steamrolled everything in Persona 5, even the fights that were actually fights.
