Just got evacuated a bit ago from Grizzly River Run in California Adventure.

Its a very warm sunny day and all i wanted was to get a little wet(or even potentially uncomfortably soaked) instead i wait all this time to get on the just for it to break down just before i get to the lift hill(before any sort of splashing occurs).

So i get evacd and at least get a fastpass good for anything. But its only good for California adventure which of course has no other water rides.

Mind you, I've also been evacuated off of Splash mountain more times this year than I've actually completed the ride. Stuck on small world for 30 minutes once. Made several walks to splash mountain just for it to break down as I'm on my way(it had a very unsuccessful refurbishment this year apparently).

Anyway its hot and I'm not wet. This doesn't suck because there could be worse things than being too hot at Disneyland, but still.

Was at Disneyworld with family a few weeks ago. Mother wanted a picture with Pooh because she's weird I guess.

We wait 45 minutes for her to get a picture because Pooh has to go on break every 10 minutes or so.

I mean, I get WHY, but it was still annoying.

This vaguely reminds me of this time that Woody and Buzz came to our mall, much in the same way that Santa or the Easter Bunny would, but they only came out one at a time in shifts. My brother really wanted to see Buzz and I really wanted to see Woody. We were in line for almost an hour with Buzz at the helm, then like 5 minutes before it was our turn Buzz waved goodbye and Woody came out. I was very happy but I think my brother cried. He was definitely upset.

Then we went upstairs to the food court and went to like maybe one store really quickly and as we were leaving the mall Buzz was back.

Fun topic. I went twice last year and think that's probably my "sweet spot" especially as a southern Nevada resident who has a long commute there. Twice a year is enough to satisfy my Disney jones, and that means I'll probably never have to pay for annuals.

The first visit was with in the spring with a big group of 12 family members. My girlfriend and I knew the park best, so we planned the general ride order and did all the running around for fast passes. We ran into Snow White and Ariel near the castle at like 8:30 in the morning, and there was NO ONE around with them, which was shocking considering the lines one generally sees for character interactions. The pic my girlfriend and I got with Snow White was the first picture I ever took with a character at Disney, and it was... surprisingly fun. We also grabbed a picture with Tiana inside the big steamboat, and she also barely had a line. That was one of the best "time investments" of the day because she's my gf's favorite Disney character, so she was beaming the rest of the day.

The second visit was in early December for my birthday, and this was when I discovered the magic of the new "Max Pass" - essentially Fast Pass on your phone. For $10 extra per ticket, you're able to get Fast Passes on your phone. For anyone with a knack for pre-planning and watching the clock (ie: the average Board 8er), this fee is worth every penny and allows you to fucking break the park. We rode Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, Matterhorn, and Big Thunder twice each and never waited more than 15 minutes. And my feet weren't throbbing at the end of the day.

Oh, and as cheesy as it may sound, Disney is illuminated with extra magic during the holiday season. The decorations are beautiful and the atmosphere is truly jolly - my gf and I agreed that our favorite moment was when they dropped a ton of fake snow on Main Street at the conclusion of the fireworks. For some reason, it just got everyone good (especially kids, who were losing their minds).

Yeah Maxpass is a fantastic value for people that are making 1 or 2 trips a year(You also get free digital photo downloads...something that used to cost like $50 a day).

I wish I could justify the cost for it(It is a $75 addon for passholders) but to truly make use of it everyone I'd likely have at some point in my party would need it and that is where it ends up cost-prohibitive. So I'm still making fastpass runs(Luckily, I've had a lot of practice doing this quite efficiently).

So yesterday we didn't know that they turned off the RNG in star tours.

Previously you had an equal chance for different scenarios at each of the rides stages, but right now they have it on the same stages each time.

I can see the logic in making sure everyone gets to experience Crait from the new movie, but we didn't know that and were disappointed tge 2nd time we rode it.

Its strange because hyperspace mountain has come and gone twice but rng for star tours has remained off.

I know you can get pretty good discounts for multiple days, so $1000 for tickets doesn't sound that unbelievable. I actually just checked Disney's website, and basic (not park hopper) 5-day tickets are $1242 for two adults and two kids. So I'd imagine the $1000 you see is legit, but no way could it cover airfare or hotels.

Huh, that does seem like a good deal. Do they specify if it's an actual Disney hotel?

And to your other point, yeah, I don't take it for granted how lucky I am to visit so often. Growing up, my aunt worked for Disney corporate and got us in for free several times. Later on, my parents got us annual passes when they were still affordable (the bargain ones for SoCal residents used to cost $100 in the late 90s - now it costs more to visit for one day). I went so often that I actually got bored of Disneyland and didn't go from like... age 15 to 28. I rediscovered it the last few years, and while it's more expensive to go now (probably $350 for my gf and I, parking and food included), it's still nothing compared to what traveling families have to pay. It's the vacation of a lifetime for so many families.

This obviously won't mean much, but in the interest of accuracy: I think $1500 for tickets in your case would mean you're getting park hopper tickets (meaning you can hop from Disneyland to CA Adventure in the same day). I really don't think you need something like that on a 5-day vacation, which is more than enough time to see both parks. I'd recommend the regular tickets, which seem to be $1242 on their website.

But yeah, not a big change...

2 day tickets are all that are required to get a thorough experience of both parks. Though with kids that could be difficult as they could slow you down.

But as Yo mentioned the maxpass option allows you to get so many extra rides in that even with kids you can get on everything. 2 day hoppers are 260 so even for the 4 of you thats just a shade over 1k. So 2k counting the deal on airfare and hotel.

I got stuck on a Jurassic park water ride at the Florida one once. It started pouring rain and since that was one of just a few rides still operating, I got on it. It's one where the raft just moves along a guided path, but I guess the rain slightly raised the water level so the raft came off the track and just sat there for like 20 minutes. An animatronic trex shrieks and bites at you as you go down the last drop, and I guess it operates on a timer because it kept popping out and screaming at us for a few seconds then slowly retracting back to it's original position over and over. We got free beach towels after.
