As a person who never really cared for vampires, would I like still like this? RPGs are the best though and this is supposed to be one of the best.

Is my favorite game of all time. For $5,it's worth at least giving a shot.

An amazing game. Some of the clans are pretty straightforward, some are really out there (I don't recommend Malkavian or Nosferatu as a first playthrough). The gameplay and setting are different than any other RPG I've played.

Yeah, you'll want the unofficial patch. For first run, I recommend using the basic patch. Further runs you can use the Plus patch.

I think if you get it through GOG it comes patched.

The game has SO MUCH POTENTIAL, but even with fan mods and patches it's still a broken, buggy ass p.o.s.

It's one of those old school 'choice and consequence' games, usually right up near the top of lists alongside things like Planescape: Torment or Fallout 2.

You'll definitely want the Unofficial Patch.

The Combat sections can be something of a low point, since they're clunky. Practice using different movements as you fight to learn what combo strikes are available to you and it should help.

Generally though, stealth and guile get better rewards, and more experience points. So it isn't too much of an issue.

It's an excellent game, even though it's a bit flawed.
Would love to see more games like it. IIRC, Paradox owns the license these days.

Agreed :\ The only other game I've played that even ever slightly reminded me of VTMB was The Secret World, though the devs admitted they were inspired a little bit by VTMB.

Yeah I loved it. Vampire Deus Ex with a whole bunch of different vampire classes that change your character's personality? Awesome.

I'd love a sequel or spiritual successor. Vampires and the supernatural are overlooked concepts for RPG's I think.

Whatever you pick, one handy tip that the game suggests but which really matters is using Blood Buff in combat(or to help pick locks). Having your stats boosted makes a noticeable difference.

Toreador if you want to use guns, Gangrel if you want to punch stuff.

Yeah I played a female Toreador.

The seductive vampire is probably my favorite style of vampire and I always like getting all of the Persuade options possible in games like this so it was a natural fit.

Yeah, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines is still my favorite game to this day. I've beaten it like 10-12 times since 2005 I think and I haven't done a run in well over a year so I may go back to it sometime soon.

As far as classes go I'd say Malkavian is actually the best, but (in my opinion) you should wait until after your first playthrough to do a run with that class.

Yeah, I ran a Malkavian my first run and spent the whole game not really understanding what was going on. It was an accurate way to experience a Malkavian though.

I haven't played it, but I've looked into the lore. It seems incredibly interesting, all the different vampire clans and curses and shit

yeah, the political structure and societal stratification aspect of the setting was a huge draw for me and one of the things i enjoyed most about the game

It's sad that no one has looked into using the license for a new AAA release. It would do very well I think (assuming they aren't rushed to release again).

Especially considering the comebacks of games like Fallout, Witcher and Deus Ex.

One of my favorite games of all times (as my username suggests) and I cleared it for all characters. Definitely grab it if you don't mind bugs and slight feeling of outdated, great story, great characters, great gameplay

A gun playthrough is interesting. The initial guns are trash, but once you start getting the good ones the game basically turns into a joke.
