Funny thing, I saw a Finnish B&W movie from 1960, and it had nudity. That would've not been OK in Hayes Code USA. But Finland is the nation of sauna, which probably contributes to nudity not being taboo.

It's no secret that Americans have the highest percentage of beautiful people per capita in the world. Adding more nudity would make the amount of teenage sex skyrocket.

I guess that wanton, indiscriminate sexuality can potentially negatively influence consumers views and preconceptions of it, and by extension harm the way society approaches intimate relationships and their reactions to sexuality.

Dunno if thats a reason to freak out when Janet Jackson had that nip-slip tho

This doesnt hold up. Sex isnt banned and kids dont wanna have it because its taboo but because its glorified. To say if children having sex was common place that theyd quit caring is bullshit. They would be "getting down" more often and have more children out of wedlock and they'd grow up with shit values from having a deadbeat dad or mom.

I'm just saying that many countries with more liberal views of sex have people with roughly the same number of sexual partners as people do in America, so the idea that "not making a big deal of it" will make it go away doesn't seem to hold up in practice AND there's little reason to think it would.

Well I think not making a big deal of it has a different purpose than just reducing sex in minors. For one thing, we'd be less distracted by the portrayal of nudity or sex in media and more easily appreciate the artistic nature in which those subjects are used. I think it's not fair to the adults that the norm is so heavily kid oriented. As we grow more as living beings, we need to up the standard of art and not let biological impulses get in the way.

I concur with your assessment.

The fact that things are "Taboo" is what causes issues.

Remember in the US when there was the "Prohibition Era"; it only made things drastically worse due to the creation of Mafia and Alcohol running.

The US Governments attempt to get people to stop drinking, even by poisoning the alcohol supply which killed literally 10's of thousands of civilians didn't stop things.

The US Government always attacks problems directly, which is never the right way to handle anything.

Just look at airport security: they ban certain items because someone used those items to make a bomb. This isnt how you make air travel safer, but the way they see it, one bad apple spoils the bunch.

Or gun control - some prick kills a bunch of people with a certain gun. Whats their solution? Ban that gun.

No. Wrong. It wont do shit. The obvious solution is never the right one. Complex problems call for complex solutions, but the government doesnt want to think.
