You cant be compelled to decorate the cake if I understand the ruling about the gay cake issue in Colorado. You just cant refuse to sell them a cake because they are gay.

They didn't refuse to make them a cake. They refused to decorate it as a wedding cake.

...So they refused to make them a cake.

Do you even read the shit you type or are you just typing to see characters appear on the screen

They literally didn't refuse to make them a cake. They explicitly offered to make absolutely anything else other than a wedding-decorated cake.

The decision says he refused to make the cake as soon as he found out it was for a gay wedding reception.

The business should have made the gay wedding cake, but it's even more wrong that this case (has there been more than one of them?) turned into a big lawsuit that got the couple a ton of money.

This should have been a local thing where the business got boycotted enough that they had to change their ways - and the couple should have just went somewhere else.

I think what he's saying is that there isn't anything about a gay wedding cake that makes it intrinsically different from a straight wedding cake. I mean unless they wanted a bunch of gay stuff on it, obviously. It doesn't seem like it should be all that relevant to the baker.

Two dudes at the top is intrinsically different.

No it's not. That is two plastic figurines that are placed on top after the cake has been completed.

BTW with the original gay wedding cake case what was the interaction between the businesses and the customer? Were they both courteous or not?

Because that would change everything IMO. If they refused to make the cake but were courteous about it, they would be much more in the right.

Why does everything have to be tied to laws in terms of how we measure and reward progress? IMO it's a disgusting and costly habit.

literally not even civil rights we're discussing.

Your teachers should be ashamed.

Civil and political rights are a class of rights that protect individuals' freedom from infringement by governments, social organizations, and private individuals. They ensure one's ability to participate in the civil and political life of the society and state without discrimination or repression.

But that's the reason why there is even an argument about this. If you asked a bakery to make a cake that says "Fuck You!", most of them will probable refuse. If a baker who doesn't like Donald Trump refuses to make a pro-Trump cake, that's fine too. Just go to another bakery.

A gay wedding is totally fine and most Americans agree with that nowadays. But apparently that baker didn't agree. Once again, this should have been a local issue where the bakery got boycotted enough that they had to change their ways.

Well that means most Americans are fine with it. And the % will increase as time goes on.

Remember that as recently as 2008, California voted to ban gay marriage in the state.

No, that wouldn't change jack shit lol. You refuse to make a cake (ANY kind of cake) because of sexual orientation, it's discrimination and you have no case. No matter how "courteous" you are.

Why is sexual orientation the cutoff and not, say, religious affiliation?

This says different than the 40% number from Pew, but:

Majority of US Muslims approve. But that's okay, keep being a shitposter.
