And he keeps this sprawling universe consistent with itself, with all events preceding relatively logically based on every given character's drives, knowledge, and toolkits. Dude is great with trope subversion, a consistent, scientific approach to how magic works, and unique ideas in fantasy (no elves or dragons in Roshar, just a massive fucking storm and an entire ecology developed around that storm).
