I only have one credit card that I never use. They've increased it a number of times to 5k but I've never actually increased it myself.

$10,000. I only raised it so on the occasion I have high expenditures, at least the percentage of the balance won't be as bad. I am not 100% but I think the percentage of your credit being used up affects your credit score.

But it's a common practice and they don't require your permission. It doesn't change your interest rate or anything like that.
