Pretty much, yeah. I just rewatched the Unravel scene from S1 a few hours earlier, and there's no comparison. That goes for :re in general so far, animation wise.

As for the art, absolutely. It's breathtaking at times. Which...just makes the anime more painful. Ironically I may stop watching :re BECAUSE I've gotten to this point, even though I was originally reading just to watch :re

I've been thinking about who would actually be the best fit for Ghoul, especially with how the art style has grown. While it may seem like a stock high budget studio answer....it'd have to be Ufotable, right? The way they do their post processing is the only fit I can really feel for the kagunes, and the way they do framing and background art in shows like Fate seem on the money. I just can't picture another studio with this particular style making it work outside of a movie format, and BOY would a TG movie adaptation suck.

there's a good stopping point in the 140-150s, you can pause there and pick it back up in a year

:re is the only other weekly manga I'm following now, it really helps that it's so popular you almost never have to wait for the chapters to be translated

Trigger is....an interesting thought. I just don't know if they can do this kind of somber tone. There are certainly many specific SCENES that I could see Trigger pulling off beautifully, but the grittier stuff...

As for Madhouse...I guess? That just doesn't seem to fit in my head.

whelp, finished March Comes in Like a Lion S1. Think I liked this a good deal less than anyone else here (gave it a far lower MAL score anyway). As I said earlier, the biggest problem is probably the cast. There's so many shitty characters I don't care about, and yet the show insists on spending tons of time with them. It felt like the whole last quarter of the series was about Shimada, who was a total nothing character. Nothing about him was interesting. Again, basically all the shogi guys sucked. Any time they had screentime, even if they weren't playing shogi, was bad. And, as everyone here said, the shogi was really bad too. I've watched shogi anime before (I loved Shion no Ou), but this show is really bad at making it interesting compared to any other board game related series. I was extra annoyed by how bad Rei was portrayed as being. He's been a professional for years, but he's constantly shocked by other characters being good at the game. He studied all the games Shimada's ever played and assumes him to have a certain level of skill based on these facts and is totally off because...??? He mentions that in past years he had amazing performances in the Lion King tournament, but then talks like he's never played against anyone A-Rank or higher. Just really terrible writing.

Rei himself starts out pretty interesting, but there's really no character development for him throughout the season, which made me pretty sad since this seems like a show built for character development. The high school sections all feel pretty pointless too. There are a few good things about the series at least. The Kawamotos are awesome. Whenever we're with them the show is good. And thematically more interesting too, since it's focusing on people who lost their families helping each other out! I like this a lot. I really wish Rei had just moved in with them. This is the natural and best solution imo. Kyoko was a bit inconsistent, but had some good stuff at least. Her relationship with Gotou has zero compelling factors to it. And finally, the animation/direction is usually pretty great. Shaft the king, as usual. Hope S2 is as much of an improvement as you guys say it is...

Allegedly, an attendee saw voice actress Yki Takada enter the restroom at a restaurant in Tokushima city, the same city the Machi Asobi events are held. After Takada left the restroom, the attendee went inside to supposedly the same toilet stall and took images of the toilet seat that Takada allegedly used, including a photo of the individual touching the toilet seat. Qualitatively I think the consensus in this topic agrees with you Mac, but I think we (well I, anyway) think the good parts compensate the bad parts more than what you seem to feel. I think most of Rei's character development in the first half of S1 is 10/10 material though.

Also I will point out I actually don't think S2 is an improvement on S1. Personally I rate them about equally.

I was gonna, but I ended up having a lot of fun with it. I havent even seen Kinos Journey so the event didnt really have anything to do with it. I actually finished the main story of the game today on Normal anyways, but it did say To Be Continued so I guess whenever S2 of the anime happens they can add more. Im working on Episode Ais now. The game goes with Ais, but it looked like the anime subs went with Aizu which is kinda weird since Crunchy subbed both >_>
