If this were referring to Banjo-Tooie, then maybe? But how the hell do you compare BK to SM64 and then go on to say it's far too long? It's like an 8 hour game...

I can beat Banjo-Kazooie in eight hours without much of a problem. So your fourth complaint isn't even remotely true unless you're as skilled as the average 4 y/o at gaming. Which it seems like you are. A 5 y/o can beat Banjo in less time than you can.

Banjo-Kazooie is BETTER than Mario 64. There, I said it. Things are NOT generic or boring. And the characters are actually memorable. I mean, yeah, the breegull gets annoying at times, but that's part of her charm.

I don't usually post my disagreement, but the argument in the first post is pretty bad.

So I'm gonna say: I think there's an argument to be made about this, but I don't think FBike1 presented it very well.

2. I think BK is way less generic than SM64. Jinjo's, red/gold feathers/eggs, Mumbo tokens/transformations, honeycombs, abilities... yeah, things are changed slightly (or added onto), but not less generic. The worlds are more vivid with a lot of characterization, colors, quirky NPC's, and the soundtrack is amusing.

4. The game is pretty short. I remember revisiting it years ago and reaching the final boss by the end of the day. Even HLTB says SM64, on average, is longer by a few hours.

B-K is the way better 3D adventure game. Plus it has a lot more polish in other ways so I like it more.

The Spyro trilogy remains top-notch. Mario Odyssey is basically a collectathon and it's very good.

I rented BK when I was a kid and didn't like it much. Would love to try it again. Really too bad Rare Replay came out before Microsoft started putting everything on PC.

Odyssey does some really bad collectathon things. Many moons just thrown in random places that dont make you feel like they were cleverly or intelligently placed.

Yeah, this is problematic. It's part of the reason I can't call it a top tier Mario, but it's still pretty good.

But if the entire collective hasn't played something, it could inherently be over or underrated. And in fact, when a new rating or group of ratings is introduced to the collective, they may in fact make the previous ratings under or overrated.

I disagree, I think both have equally clunky controls that are unenjoyable, though like... my pain with BK was swimming when I tried to play it without a controller because I really wanted to play it again but didn't have a system for it... while SM64 I have on VC for Wii, so played with a normal controller.

I don't remember any controls in BK giving me a problem aside from the Beak Bomb flying attack, and flying itself. Everything else was incredibly intuitive to me and everything considered makes it my favorite controlling game on the N64.

Also Kazooie is best bird
