I haven't heard any good breakdowns of it, just fanboys and haters and reviewers doing what they do. I'd like to know the opinions of actual people

Havent been able to get into it, tried a few times now

I guess you need all the dlc for the story to actually make sense? I dunno the whole narrative seemed so bizarre and half assed from what I played

I did like the fishing and the cooking

if it wasn't a final Fantasy game, it would just be a mediocre open world jrpg with no story

as a final Fantasy game, it's a mediocre jrpg with no story.

I think general consensus is that the game is something you really like but feels half done. I personally enjoyed the game but also felt kind of snubbed by the fact that the game could have been a lot more than what it delivered. The gameplay was like this halfassed action combat system that you could see had potential, the story has some strong emotional delivery but probably some of the worst pacing i've seen in a game (the majority of the game is the first 4 chapters and then suddenly you're tied onto the front of a train and just straight up sped through the remaining 10 chapters), tons of shit happens off screen and is never explained in detail to you in game (things that would have been pretty cool to see!), the summons are pretty cool but you have almost no control over when you'll be able to use them, and open world is...pretty bare bones. It ends up being like a bunch of gas stations around a desert and one decent sized town.

I want to play it, but I don't wan to play it because I will only be disappointed.
Steam labels it as a hack and slash.

I can't wait for DQ11 in September.

I wonder if the Royal Edition fixed some of the problems.

I wouldn't buy it now anyway. It still has DLC getting released for it over the next year. I'd just wait for like the final complete edition of it. Maybe they'll work the DLC in a little more organically into the main story, maybe they won't. Either way you're better off waiting for all of it to come out and paying 60 dollars instead of dropping money on the season pass.

I think the DLCs sort of address the off screen problem and they've been updating the gameplay a lot over the past year so its possible some things have been fixed. Unfortunately I don't think they fixed the pacing problem. The DLCs aren't worked into the main story they're just their own separate files you have to access from the title screen from what i've heard.

correct. it's pretty dumb.

and the final fight is laughable, too. the first monster you encounter when you get to the final area is about 76 times more difficult than the final boss. it's a pushover. the entire time i was waiting for a final form to be revealed and then...credits.

i just stared at the screen, my mouth agape, because i just couldn't believe that that was the final fight. it was easier than fighting a level 1 wolf at level 99.

the movie is decent and it supposedly fills in the missing 2nd act

the game is just meh
it's trying to be an online mmorpg
with action, but the enemies are all stupid and weak
and the game is for the most part single player
i think there's some multiplayer now but im just too busy
with GoW, Ni-Oh, MonHun
