I'm also for the sale of military grade drones and bombs to the public.

I'm going to write my Congress person now and let them know.

I guess maybe you guys somehow think because they chose foreigners this time that they view you any differently. Like they won't kill you at a moment's notice.

Cletus' semi-auto rifle is definitely a good deterrent to drone strikes.

The people must be armed and organized. Every citizen has a right to be armed with muskets, rifles, cannon and ammunition.

Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered; any attempt to disarm the people must be frustrated, by force if necessary.
-James Madison

Note the "cannons" there. Bombers, drones and missiles are the cannons of the modern era. Thus, per the spirit of the second amendment, the people should have a right to those weapons.

Muhammad's rifle seems to be pretty good at hanging in there against drone strikes.

Allow me to sum it up.

Our government is presently murdering people overseas in an offensive war while saying that we should trust them with our safety.

They're saying that we can't trust citizens with military weapons, while they go around murdering people with military weapons.

-In theory- they're supposed to be in favor it because they're sworn to protect the Constitution.

However it is clear they wish to disarm citizens to make their job easier and to increase their powerbase.

It is counterintuitive but the more you believe your government is going to do the right thing, the more you actually take stands to make this so. If you automatically assume that the government will do nothing but hurt you, you're part of a culture that only makes it worse, not better. If you really think that these weapons are doing anything for liberty, then why didn't they stop the PATRIOT Act or the NSA wiretapping or about a million other crimes from happening? At the very least, why didn't YOU actually go and try to fight them with your weapons over it? Because the whole argument is complete bullshit. They allow such lax weapon laws because having a gun gives its owner the illusion of power, while having none of it in reality. It is hard for me to take seriously the dudes that both tell me their weapons keep them free and then go and vote for dudes like Bush and Trump who do nothing but sign away all their other rights time and again.

It's rather alarming that you don't seem to recognize a difference between a government bombing other countries and a government murdering its own citizens. It's also rather alarming that you don't seem to realize that a completely unrestricted arms race between criminals and the police is a very bad thing (if you thought American police were militarized NOW...).

There isn't a difference between bombing other countries and bombing their own citizens. We're both just people.

Also, that will exist regardless. Militarization of the police is the natural inclination because polkce want to maintain control over the populace. It is going to happen whether people are armed or not.

There is no difference. They don't think in terms of "Oh they're a government so we can kill them now."

They will do whatever is necessary to sieze whatever resources and power they want. They will kill anyone they can who stands in their way, citizen or government. They want to destroy wbatever is a threat to their power, and citizenry should be a threat to their power.

I don't know how liberals can oppose police brutality and war mongering but contend that only the government should have certain firearms.

I don't know how republicans can wave both the Don't Tread on Me and the Thin Blue Line flags at once.

It's almost like both parties are filled with manipulated morons with inconsistent principles.

You seriously believe that reason given to you?

That not only Assad would gas his people for no reason, but that's a good enough reason to go to war?

This is obviously yet more blood for oil. Assad didn't want the US to put a pipeline in their country, and then "radicals" "showed up."

One of those groups pays taxes to the US government and the other doesn't. That's a pretty big difference right there.

Yes, but the police need to be significantly more militarized when gangs have APC's than when they have handguns. At least while criminals have civilian-grade weaponry, you can push back against militarizing the police by saying "you don't need that."
