I still have yet to beat this game. I tried the final boss and it took like an hour and got him down to marginal health and he killed me. Haven't had the heart to try again.

You can now understand why I incited #KillTheCat in the recent Persona SMC. Morgana is one of the most obnoxious characters in any game I've played and his annoyance was a significant hindrance to my progression in the game.

Absolutely not. I'm not a huge Teddie fan, but he's better in nearly every way compared to Morgana.

Okay, had to catch up on the previous topic (still lurking off and on). Yep, you got to the part where I officially fell in absolute hate with Morgana. After that, he couldn't recover. After that random, stupid hissy fit over absolutely nothing, I too wanted to just say "Nah. Get lost, kitty." Ryuji wasn't THAT dumb and had a point IIRC, but... I don't remember the details since I tried to forget about that entire waste of time.

I've seen some lies posted on this board before, but this may be one of the worst to date. Teddie is hysterical and a key part of many of the best moments in P4. Morgana is just awful and brings the entire game down because of his awfulness.

I think Morgana would have been better if:

-He weren't with you 24/7 and narrating things your character should be doing on his own
-Stopped blocking your progress for no good reason (again, this would feel less offensive if your character himself just said "I'm feeling tired" a la Persona 4)
-That whole shitfit with Ryuji debacle
-Give him more than one voice line per situation in combat

I never played any other persona game and have no opinion on teddie specifically

though in general I find the need to have a "mascot character" in an rpg kind of dumb

Dogmeat from Fallout is cool if he counts but that's not a jrpg so it's sorta different

Yeah, Morgana popping up all the time makes me think he was MADE to break a record for "most obnoxious mascot character." Something Teddie isn't even a consideration for. And Joker has CFS, I presume, given how he needs extra sleep to do shit the next EVENING. "Get some rest, you have a big night tomorrow!" Uh.

And yeah, his voice gets annoying because of how often he repeats himself. Teddie didn't repeat himself anywhere near as much, just as navigator with only a few lines. He also had color commentary, of which Morgana has none. Teddie also doesn't throw a hissy fit over something stupid.

Morgana is a downgrade from Teddie in every single way and is a large reason I chose not to replay P5 last year.

for what it's worth I actually do like the p5 cast overall aside from cat

like a lot are flawed but they're definitely all memorable and even the ones that rub me the wrong way yusuke have pretty strong redeeming qualities too

P4 might be the best playable cast in any JRPG though.

I agree here. They are all awesome in their own ways - there's a variety, yet their chemistry is incredible. And they're developed pretty well, too.

If I ranked every Persona character (just playables, social links, Palace owners, and other major characters like Strega in P3), Ken would be in dead last, so there's no way he could be top half of anything. Morgana would be second-to-last. Every P4 party member would be in the upper half. For comparison.

As far as casts go, P4>P3>P5. I think that's the ranking most people have.

Unlike Morgana, Teddie actually has a character arc and is involved in some of the funniest scenes in the game.
