Have you ever been shocked by a child death scene?

Obviously you might have to post spoilers unless the scene was so talked about that everyone probably knows about it now.....

Teen deaths have become so common like adult deaths that it isn't shocking anymore..especially in horror movies...

But child death scenes are still one and a rarity to this day..in mainstream movies that is. You never expect kids (12 or under) get killed in a movie but sometimes the odd movie does have it...which one shocked you the most would you say?

For me It would have to be in Mimic when the 2 kids that were killed...i didn't think the movie had guts to go there but it did...and it was so violent too .

And also in Snakes on a Train when the little girl gets eaten alive by a giant snake...

The first thing I imagined was being half-digested by those worm things in Deep Rising, but that didn't happen to a kid... it should though, that was some gross stuff

Not from a movie, but the part in Ultima 7 where they sacrifice a baby is pretty gruesome.

Actually that (child murder) is kind of a theme in later Ultima games. Ultima 8 and 9 have parts where children attack you and you have to kill them to survive.

I'm sure I have, but the one that immediately came to mind didn't shock me. In fact, it was perfectly hilarious as intended.

In Planet Terror, the kid's Mom gives him a gun to "defend himself". Now by typical Hollywood cliche, he would do just that and be alright. But in this movie, as soon as the Mom turns her back and takes five steps, the gun, of course, goes off and the kid dies. Fun fact: He was played Robert Rodriguez's actual son and RR reshot the entire movie with a different scene/ending so as not to traumatize him.

Yeah i think it was the movie ' For Colored Girls by Tyler Perry.

this crazy veteran dude throws his kids off the apartment balcony because he thinks his wife is cheating on him and they aren't even his kids. Sad part is of course they were and he thought her female boss was a man and her secret lover.

It was an amazingly sad scene and I hated my ex girlfriend for making me watch it lol

Nope. No different to any other death in a film. Probably because I know it's not real and/or I'm emotionally stunted when it comes to most things.

Don't children die of cancer or rare diseases to motivate/ haunt the protagonist in alot of movies? It's usually in flashbacks.

XX, the horror anthology, had the kids who starved to death after they refused to eat which saddened me but I can't recall a really *shocking* child death although the scenes where kids look like they're going to die in the Willy Wonka movies are always disturbing, mostly for the juxtaposition of happy music with the danger they're in.

Usually movies go out of their way to avoid child deaths, though. There are a number of books where kids die and the movie decided to let them live instead such as Cujo. Or it's something where it's either not shocking or the kids are evil little shits, like Children of the Corn, where you're hoping the heroes beat them.

Darren Aronofsky's Mother! It wasn't shocking, but that just made it more upsetting. I'm pretty sure the biblical theme of the movie had made itself apparent to me before that, but I was still not 100% sure that's what he was going for until then. I went into the movie blind, was not disappointed

That one movie where Oprah plays a slave. I forget the details but basically the slave owner is on his way to take her kids and sell them. But Oprahs character finds out before hand and kills all her children before they can be sold. The slave owner walks in on her and she's holding her dead baby with her other kids dead on the ground with blood all over the place.

I always rooted for child death scenes in movies when I was growing up because it always felt like they were just off the table. It annoyed me because the kids were usually annoying or it weakened the suspense because you knew nothing was going to happen. The odd time a kid died, I was like "yes! Did not see that coming!" and respected the surprise.
