Should I?

So most of my friends are flying somewhere on holiday tonight because term/semester finished. I chose to save since I have to fly home in May for a wedding, so I'm bored in my flat.

I've never been to the movies alone before though, feels like it would be kind of sad? Cinema Is like 5m away

Make my life decisions for me b8

My choices are

Pacific Rim 2
Peter Rabbit
Hurricane Heist
Baaghi 2 (not having seen Baaghi 1, I think this would be lost on me, so this is sadly out of the question)

The rural town of New Hope, Ala., has a pair of super-sized problems heading its way: There's a hurricane bearing down on the Gulf coastline, and there's a team of 30 well-armed mercenaries intent on looting the local treasury facility.

Sadly no

Stealing a Hurricane would be a much better movie. Call Soderbergh.

Update:

I decided to go. Fuck the polls.

Got there about 10m late because of some minor car trouble and just...leaving late... and then found out the showing I wanted was in the VIP cinema, twice as expensive. I've done it once and it wasn't that great. Also I've probably missed the start

So there's another showing in about 45m, I'm going to that instead.

Movie was fine

Probably pushed the references a bit much to the point it got in the way of the movie, but then MechaGodzilla shows up as it wraps back around into being fun again

Music got on my nerves, soundtrack is seriously corny in the worst of ways

I've heard pretty bad reviews. I hear it just tries to jam tons of 90's nostalgia references down your throat one after another with no real reason for doing so. Just like a remember this, and this, and this. Haven't seen it though that's just what I've heard.

Even those have been getting solid reviews lately.

This is just shite that some people are apologizing for because its got Spielbergs name on it and therefore can't just be shite.

I'd say there's quite a bit of that but that it would be unfair to say it's "just" that.

I like the weird visuals of it too. And it impressed me how Ben Mendelsohn's character in the game matched the mouth movements of the actor irl. I know about facial capture etc but it was much more noticeable and cool with him because he speaks in such a unique way.

There's a couple of cool, if slightly obvious, lines about dangers of social media etc but that gets buried deep underneath the next pop culture reference

I didn't like how watered down the "quest" aspects of the movie were.

And that's saying something because even in the book i felt like they started hand-waving too many important things about halfway through, but it was even more egregious in the movie.

Other than that it was a "fun" movie and i enjoy the themes and references if nothing else.

Oh yeah, it did start to feel the length a bit. It felt like they were going after the third key for ages. Like it had a climactic pace at that point, but then just maintained that for ages and it started to drag.

I was thinking about this movie earlier today

The idea of using a vicious Hurricane as the cover for a heist is such a ridiculously audacious idea that I'm instantly on the side of the thieves here. Or heist movies have really done a number on my moral compass, I dunno. But it feels like they made the wrong people the good guys in this one. I 100% want the people with the balls to rob the US Treasury during a fucking killer Hurricane to succeed.

I think people are generally on the side of the heist perpetrators in these movies. Ocean's Eleven, The Sting, The Thomas Crown Affair... they are generally protagonists.
