When people have a thousand channels to watch and new shows coming out on all of them, the fact that they can say "oh hey, I used to love ____, I should watch this new version" is incredibly effective for catching their attention. It basically means all of the show's marketing has already been done for them. It does come with the downside that there's a high chance of disappointing fans who have spent decades building up their idea of what a reboot/sequel/continuation should be like, but nothing's perfect. --- This is my signature. When people have a thousand channels to watch and new shows coming out on all of them, the fact that they can say "oh hey, I used to love ____, I should watch this new version" is incredibly effective for catching their attention. It basically means all of the show's marketing has already been done for them. It does come with the downside that there's a high chance of disappointing fans who have spent decades building up their idea of what a reboot/sequel/continuation should be like, but nothing's perfect.</quote> ...
