Its not the show itself, its the rebooting of old shows. Full House, Boy Meets World, and now Roseanne. Theres probably others because I dont watch tv anymore, but theres definitely a trend here. The 9-episode season shows their confidence in it.

It's not a reboot. It's meant as a direct continuation. In fact, *all* of the shows you listed are direct continuations. Fuller House and Girl Meets World picked up the story after the kids had kids of their own, becoming the new parents.

I am still wondering how Roseanne is continuing when the whole point of the final season was that she was dreaming it all up because her husband had died.

Goodman is probably the last of the cast members that needs money aside from Galecki, if he counts.

I like John Goodman. I just want to think he's doing this for the $$$ and not because he thought it would be a hit show or something. The reboot sounds horrible, and I liked the original series.

Not really. If anything, it gives them more room to create and change than if they had just done another season back-to-back.

While I didn't see much of the original Roseanne (which, quite frankly, I didn't like), from a clip I heard on NPR they lampshade the fact that they're either disregarding it or turning that into a dream when Roseanne mentions, "I thought you were dead. You looked so peaceful" or something along those lines

Did you even watch Roseanne back in the 80s/90s? The show was ahead of it's time and very progressive. Heck, prior to Roseanne no sitcom was doing a Halloween episode due to the mid-west and their fear of witches/magic/god. Now, it is standard fare for a show to have a Halloween episode.

That sounds like complete bullshit, especially since you had sitcoms ABOUT witches (such as Bewitched) which predate Roseanne by decades. If a Halloween episode was too edgy for a sticom because of the association with witches, why would a sitcom literally about witches not only exist but run on network television? >_>

Friends, like the show from the 90s? Created by David Crane (born August 13, 1957) and Marta Fran Kauffman (born September 21, 1956).

Who do you think green-lights the shows? Its the higher ups who run the networks.

NBC chairman: Robert Greenblatt (born 1960)

CBS chairman: Leslie Roy "Les" Moonves (born October 6, 1949)

Disney/ABC/FreeForm chairman: Robert Allen Iger (born February 10, 1951)

The CW president: Mark Pedowitz (no birthdate given but started working in the industry as a lawyer in 1979). CW is half CBS half Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. chairman: Kevin Tsujihara (born October 25, 1964).

Boomers, every single one.

Ive been done with TV for a while now, Id much rather play the vids I want to instead of watching the garbage they spoon feed to the masses. But hey, whatever floats your boat - its your life to do with as you choose.

That's flimsy reasoning on so many levels. More importantly, continuations of older shows are generally a minority anyway. You're more likely to have new programs, most of which don't survive their first year.

still shows a lack of ideas

It's less a lack of ideas and more that nostalgia and familiarity are very powerful marketing tools, especially in a flooded market. When people have a thousand channels to watch and new shows coming out on all of them, the fact that they can say "oh hey, I used to love ____, I should watch this new version" is incredibly effective for catching their attention. It basically means all of the show's marketing has already been done for them. It does come with the downside that there's a high chance of disappointing fans who have spent decades building up their idea of what a reboot/sequel/continuation should be like, but nothing's perfect.
